Paragon 1911 Popcorn Machine Reviews

Here's what others who have purchased the Paragon 1911 Popcorn Machine think of it:

Mmmm, POPCORN ! ! !

...I can almost hear somebody exclaim whenever I look at this heavy, well-constructed, state-of-the-art machine.

The Original 1911 is produced by Paragon, makers of the best theatre-style popcorn machines around. You have to be somewhat of an afficionado to fully appreciate it. These machines are designed to make popcorn quickly and efficiently, the crispest and fluffiest possible, with no toughness or excess unpopped kernels, at the same time providing an attractive display. They are very durable and made to withstand commercial use, justifying their high price.

...especially nice if you have a family or rec room or long snack bar.

Great addition to our home theater

We really enjoy our 1911 popcorn machine. We've had it for about 2 years now and it makes great tasting popcorn in about 5-6 minutes. We get great popcorn everytime.Kids really enjoy watching it pop and the popcorn tastes just like theater popcorn. Clean-up is easy. We just wipe everything out with a paper towel and occassionally I use a vinegar based glass cleaner on it to get rid of the oil residue. We just wipe out the kettle after each use with a paper towel. I bought a special kettle cleaner for when there is hard to clean residue on it, but so far I haven't needed to use it. I think because we wipe it out good after each use. It's more work than microwaved popcorn for sure, but the taste is much better.

What Causes Popcorn To Pop?

The inside of a piece of popcorn is actually about 12% moisture. When it gets heated to more than 475 degrees, the moisture becomes steam and expands. This puts so much pressure on the hull of the popcorn kernel that it explodes.

How To Make Caramel Popcorn

  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. corn syrup
  • 1/2 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 5 qt. popped popcorn
Melt the butter is a sauce pan over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and corn syrup and bring it to a boil. Let it boil without stirring for four minutes. Take it off the heat and stir in the baking soda and vanilla. Pour it over the popcorn and coating it evenly.

Heat your oven to 250 degrees. Spread your sauce coated popcorn in thin layers on baking sheets and bake for one hour. Stir every 15 minutes as it cooks.

Marshmallow Popcorn

  • 6 T. butter
  • 5 c. mini marshmallows
  • 4 qt. popped popcorn
Melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the marshmallows and stir until they're melted too. Pour over popcorn and stir to coat evenly.

You can now form the popcorn into popcorn balls or just little popcorn nuggets.

Bacon & Cheese Popcorn

  • 1/3 c. butter
  • 1/2 t. seasoned salt
  • 1/2 t. hickory smoked salt
  • 1/3 c. Parmesan
  • 1/3 c. real bacon bits
  • 4 qt. popped popcorn
Melt the butter, stir in the salts and pour over popcorn. Now stir in the Parmesan and bacon bits and enjoy.

Like Popcorn At The Movies...

Paragon 1911 Popcorn MachineWhen I was a kid, my mother would take me to every cartoon that came to the local theater. While I loved hanging out with my mom and loved the cartoons too, I will admit that I really looked forward to the popcorn. There was just no better way to spend the afternoon than laughing at Scooby Doo and chewing on that delicious corn.

Now that those afternoons are way in the past, having a bit of popcorn reminds me of those times.

My first taste of movie theater popcorn was during my first watched movie at the theater... Fox and the Hound (the original playing of it). I always remember my mom and I sitting down to a movie at home too and making popcorn (stove popped), which is how I still make it today... yumm :)
