Metal Clay Firing Kiln

So by now everyone should know I make jewelry, I enjoy making jewelry...especially metal clay jewelry.  I started off using a creme brulee torch to fire my pieces; which takes a large amount of time if you have a lot to fire and it doesn't allow the use of cool techniques with the clay.  So I started shopping around for a kiln, and after much looking and reading this is the kiln I found was the best fit in my opinion for firing metal clay.  For the size, it's capabilities, and the price it's just the best option I could find.

This lens highlights the features of the kiln and where to find one.  It could be on someone you knows christmas list...

Features of the kiln

The Paragon SC-2 kiln is a low cost option when searching for a kiln. There are many kilns out there that range in price, with the paragon kiln costing in the $500 range. It gets the job done, and for much less then other kilns that are out there.

The kiln is good for more than just firing metal clay, it is also ideal for fusing glass, melting silver, enameling, anneal glass beads, and much more. It works with firing Art Clay, Copprclay, BronzClay, PMC metal clays and other materials.

There are four versions of this kiln, the picture above is the basic SC2. The other versions have variations such as glass viewing windows and bead annealing doors, but in this lens we only discuss the basic model. For more information on the other models please visit Paragon's website. The SC2 model is 16 kg in weight, measuring approximately 8 x 7.8 x 5.7 inches. It reaches a maximum tempurature of 2003 degrees Fahrenheit.

Not only are you able to purchase the SC2 kilns on various online outlets there are brick and mortar stores that also have them available. Find a local distributor in your area Here.
