In September of 2011 Parallels released its newest version of Desktop 7 for Mac. With 90 new and enhanced features, this software program, which is the most popular of its kind, allows users to run operating systems such Windows, Linux, and Snow Leopard Server on your Mac computer right alongside your current Mac OS.
How Does It Work?
Upgrade or not?
This new version of Desktop for Mac launches Windows 60% faster than the Desktop 6 and moves 45% faster with 3D graphics experiences. It supports full-screen mode, Launch Pad, and Mission Control while running Windows applications, and is consistent with Lion gestures. This version also allows users to view their Windows hard drive on their OS X desktop.
Parallels has improved upon its already useful wizard features from Desktop 6 to help you upgrade your skills and use this new and improved software without confusion or frustration. They have also rewritten their Help system to look and feel more like the OS X Help system.
Not enough upgrades for you? The Desktop 7 for Mac comes with a new mobile app that allows users to access their home or office computers remotely from other handheld Mac devices, such as an iPhone or iPad. This app was originally being sold at $5, but is expected to move to $20 shortly after its release and possibly more as time goes on; so get it while its cheap!
The Desktop 7 for Mac integrates nicely with Mac's new Lion operating system, taking advantage of many of Lion's new features. It supports printer access seamlessly from printers connected through either your Mac or Windows operating system, and takes advantage of Mac's iSight or FaceTime camera in both Windows and Mac OS X simultaneously.
With previous versions of Parallels Desktop for Mac, users had to find a version of Windows, purchase it, and install it on their system by accessing Windows software online or purchasing a version from a local retailer. With Desktop 7 for Mac this is no longer necessary. Parallels has streamlined the process for you by adding a new feature that allows users who do not already own Windows operating system to buy, download, and install Windows through the Parallel Desktop for Mac application.
Reviewers of this software agree that this is a must have software upgrade for users who frequently switch between Mac and Windows (or Linux or Snow Leopard Server) operating systems while conducting business, designing, creating academic or business materials, or trading files between computers. It is a constant problem in a Mac versus PC world that not all programs and creations transfer while maintaining their proper formatting. With Desktop 7 for Mac, this is no longer an issue. Simply install this software and use programs and files from either of the most popular operating systems on the market without any of the common reformatting or incompatibility issues.
Own a handheld device and get tired of plugging in to your desktop to transfer files? Wish you could access files and programs installed on your home computer while at the office, out with friends, or at business lunches? With Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac you can remotely access all of the above from your iPhone, iPad, or other such handheld devices.
