The sex tape revealed the heiress having sexual intecourse with Rick Salomon, former husband of Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannon Doherty and Paris Hilton's boyfriend during those times. When the video was shot, Paris Hilton was 19 years old while Rick Salomon was 30.
In late 2003, clips of the Paris Hilton sex tape video were leaked into the World Wide Web. This occurred right before the national television debut of Paris Hilton and best friend Nicole Richie's TV series, The Simple Life.

The Paris Hilton Sex Tape - One Night In Paris
Initially, the quality of the sex tape was poor, with grainy scenes in night vision. Rick Salomon eventually released a clearer version of the sex video, which he sold to the pornographic production company Red Light District. Red Light District distributed the DVD copies of the Paris Hilton sex tape video. The full copy of 1 Night in Paris was released in the market in 2004.The Paris Hilton sex tape lasts 102 minutes and was shot in different locations, including a hotel room and a swimming pool. The sex video was taped interchangeably by both Paris Hilton and Rick Salomon. Some DVD copies contain an additional four bonus scenes featuring other pornographic actors, such as Monica Sweetheart and Taylor Rain. Paris Hilton sued Rick Salomon for allegedly releasing the sex tape on purpose. However, this claim was never confirmed. In July 2005, the case was settled and Paris Hilton was given $400,000!

Rick Salomon also sued Paris Hilton for defamation. This was due to Paris Hilton's statement that she did not know what she was doing when the film was videotaped. Rick Salomon also sued Kevin Blatt, the notorious pornographer who was responsible for launching the sex tape in the Internet.Allegedly, the sex tape was stolen from Rick Salomon by his roommate. In 2005, the Paris Hilton sex tape gathered 3 AVN Awards, namely one for "Best Selling Title of the Year," another for "Best Overall Marketing Campaign: Individual Project" and the last one for "Best Renting Title of the Year." According to the New York Times, the sex tape has gone on to sell approximately 600,000 copies!!
At present, the original Paris Hilton sex tape is still available on the World Wide Web. The DVD for 1 Night in Paris is also available in adult movie stores nationwide.
