    I was lucky enough to live in Paris for three years. I miss it even though it was a long time ago now. I really do like your guide - so very much better than the standard list of things to see. Really, people do need to break out of the mould.

    Yes, several times and we were just in France but went to Gascony, Perigaux and Lyon this time. Like the addresses you placed here. Will be useful for our next visit.

    What a brilliant travelogue. Parts of this wonderful city I have never seen. Mon Dieu I only got 3 out of 10 too. back to school where I learned the phrase 'je suis le phantom de la maison onze cent onze'. I cant understand why this phrase was never really useful on holiday in France though!?

    I love Paris, I've been there twice some years ago.
    The parcs are oases; wandering in streets, alleys and boulevards is magical; the giant ferris-wheel outside Louvre offers a spectacular view of the city and of the plain's vastness.

    I never had any desire to visit Paris until I read Katherine Pancol's trilogy that starts with Les yeux jaunes des crocrodiles. Now, I can't wait to go! This is a great lens with the kind of insider information that further makes me want to visit Paris.

    Now I'll be longing to visit Paris all day.
    I didn't know stained glass windows could be "read." I live in a tourist town and there are lots of old stained glass windows in churches downtown. I'm sure they tell stories.

    2/10 in the quiz - and both of those were guesses!! I'm a country girl and live a long way from Paris. I have to admit I didn't like it much, but I don't like any towns/cities much. Great lens :)

    This is an interesting lens. It seems that you have worked very much on it. Congratulations! I really enjoyed this lens and I also took part in your quiz!

    Last time I was in Paris it was only for 3 days and there was so much I wanted to see and do I did not sleep a wink until I got on the plane to return home! Can't wait for the opportunity to return at a more leisurely pace. Great lens. Very interesting. Actually printed it out and filed it in my bucket list folder!

    The monuments and architecture in Pere Lachaise are so beautiful - well worth the visit. And now there are more places for me on the next visit to the City of Lights. Good quiz. Scored 50% by getting the food question!

    I scored 9 out of 10, most I knew, some I guessed. I've been to Paris many many times in the past. When we were teens, my sister and I used to ride with the shrimp trucks to the old Les Halles for only 10 guilders. From there we went to a youth hostel to sleep and when we wanted to return, we just go to Les Halles again and waited for the trucks to unload and drove home again. I still regret they moved Les Halles out of the center of Paris. The cemetery Pere Lachaise is one of my favorites too and I do love Quartier Latin, but not in the tourist season. I love all the bookstands along the Saine too. From my house to Paris is about a 4/5 hour drive by car, but it's much easier to get there by train. Paris traffic is very scary if you're not used to it.

    I loved Paris when I went. Except when they put the giant salmon slice on my salad and just stared at me waiting to eat it. I didn't know how to say in French "vegetarian." =)

    I got 6 questions right. I've been to Paris several times (it's easy because I live in the UK) and I love the city. I couldn't possibly choose my favourite place, there are too many. It's a place where I'd love to live. I like your page about Paris very much.

    I got only 50%. Some of the answers were educated guesses and others were pure stabs in the dark,. Lentils with walnuts and goat cheese may not be "chevre chaud"...but it sounds like something I would like to try. Did you make it up on the spot when constructing the quiz? :)

    The Lentils with walnuts and goat cheese is apparently a real recipe! I found this out while searching the net one day. And remembered it when i did the quiz. Just google it and you will find some variation on it.

    Reminded me of a quick simple meal I "invented" consisting of fava beans with lemon juice and garlic, some pita and a slab of feta cheese made in France from sheep's milk Cheese & legumes; pretty tasty!

    I was in Paris 33 years ago as a nine year old. I probably didn't like it much then, but I love thinking about it now. I believe we were there at the end of the Tour De France that year, because I remember watching it out TV. Not sure why we didn't go out and see it in person.

    30% I know almost nothing about Paris so I was just happy that I figured out the goat cheese answer and remembered the oldest church from Art History class 30 years ago. :) It's hard to have your home be in one place and your soul in another, isn't it?

    Yes, the written card scam is pretty old in Paris. I am French (By the way I have created a lens about Paris about a years or so ago) I've lived there for 5 years. Great lens.

    What a fantastic lens! Paris is my favorite city in the world and I still only managed to score 40% on the quiz - how pathetic is that :) Wish I had known your tip about getting a guide for Saint Chapelle. It was such a beautiful church and would have been even better had I been able to read the glass. I love that you've included so many things on this lens that go above and beyond the usual touristy things that people usually do. Big congrats on the well-deserved LOTD award.     7 out of 10! am pretty pleased with that as I guessed quite a few! I've been to Paris many times and went often as a child (growing up in the UK it was an easy holiday destination). This lens has inspired me to go back soon!

    The graphic novel, the clear photographs, the beautiful arichitecture... this is a beautiful lens. I didnt take the quiz, there is hardly anything I know of Paris beyond the obvious, I'd have flunked miserably :-) but I love this lens... the French music section in the end is like the icing on the cake!

    Mighty fine and interesting lens - the scams section is great - I've been a helpful soul on other trips and it is hard to say no to someone who looks like they are in need. More often than not if you get a long sob story it just isn't true, sad to say. Congrats on LotD!

    Tough quiz - I only got 50%! Visited Paris in 1980, liked the buildings and the cafes but the poor attitude of a few of the shop assistants and waitresses was disappointing. Hope it's nicer now. P.S. I liked Canada very much! :-)

    4 out of 10. I got the ones I knew. I love history so knew about the Gaulish tribe and the name of Paris, I've been to Paris several times, so knew about the food, I have an Eiffel Tower lens so knew about the Eiffel Tower. The rest were guesses and thought I would at least get one of them right! But no. Oh well. Love Paris and enjoyed this lens.

    I got 40% which I'm quite pleased with (some lucky guesses.)

    I was lucky enough to visit Paris about 15 years ago. Wasn't sure that I would like it . . . I loved it. Great buildings, great people, loved the Metro. Eating was a bit expensive. Very nice lens.

    I scored 50%. It's been 30 years since I visited Paris and I second guessed myself on a couple of the questions. It was a rather hard quiz and I wonder how my cousins who were born there would do.

    Yikes, I'm not even telling MY score! :) But i do love Paris. I've been there twice--many years ago--and hope to return. I really enjoyed the tour of the Louvre (mostly because I had an excellent guide) and splashing around in the fountain in the middle of the Government Square (in the middle of the traffic circle, to be specific) on a hot day. Actually, the teacher who chaperoned my first trip to Paris 25 years ago just got in touch with all of us former students who went and sent us a DVD of photos.
