Stun Guns & Pepper Spray: Parking Lot and Parking Garage Safety Tips for Women and Men

GET IN THE VAN NOW! I SAID NOW!!!

This is what the attacker said to a lady as he jumped out of his van holding a gun in her face. Unfortunately, she did not noticed the dark van parked several feet away from her driver side door because she was talking to her boyfriend on a cell phone.
It is so easy to get distracted in a potentially dangerous environment like a parking lot or parking lot garage. One needs to always be alert of their surroundings even if they do not feel threatened.

Here are some basic Parking Lot Safety tips to remember when leaving from any building to go to your parked car at anytime of the day.

1. Be Prepared!: Expect that bad things can happen to you at any given time and make preparations ahead of time to deal with those threats. While it may sound a little overboard, running safety scenarios at home with your family is a great way to build muscle memory so that if you get in a situation you won't have to think about what to do.

2. Plan your Parking: I know I know, I can hear you now, "there is no way I can plan for a parking spot, that is just impossible".

* If that is the case, as soon as you step out of your car, look at the light posts, usually they will have some markings on them to help you identify your location in the lot. Write these markings down on a piece of paper so that you can know and easilly identify which posts you parked close too.
* If you have an Iphone why not download the "G-park" app from apple. It is a fun and simple way for you to find your car quickly.
* If you have a blackberry, "Got'cha Parked" is a good app to help you locate your car.
* Use your panic button on your key fob to locate your vehicle. Press the button and follow the sounds of your horn honking until you see your car. Note: Some people may cringe at this but it is an effective way to find your car and scare off would be attakers at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone never felt so appropiate until now :)

3. Be alert: Before stepping outside the store or building, take a brief look around the parking lot through a window, you might even use this brief time to create a walking path in your mind that allows you to get to your vehicle in the fastest way possible.

4. Be Ready: Do not assume that everything is going to work out just fine for you because its broad daylight and there are many people around. As our economy unfortunately destabilizes, the crime rate is going to increase and criminals are going to become bolder by commiting crimes in the light that they would normally commit under the cover of darkness.

5. Use your Neck!: As soon as you leave the building or your car, you need to use that neck of yours to turn your head as you scan that parking lot like a rotating radar dish. I don't care if you think you look silly or paranoid, scanning your environment is a neccessity until you are in your vehicle or inside the building.

6. Don't Be A Target: Predators love to see women who are distracted via their cell phone, or who have both hands loaded with stuff. Forget talking on the cell phone until you get in the building or your car, don't let yourself be distracted. Always keep one hand free at all times so that if you need to grab a stun gun out your purse or push an attacker away to run, you can without no obstacles slowing you down. Be ready to drop everything in your hands at once, this will distract your attacker and give you a physiological and psychological advantage to grab your mace or stun gun.

7. Use leverage: It is perfectly normal to ask a friend whether male or female to accompany you to your car. In a grocery store, ask a male store employee to accompany you to your car and by all means tip them.

8. Mirrors are your Friend: Keep a convex mirror fixed to the lid of the trunk so that when you are loading stuff in the trunk, you can see if someone is approaching you from behind.

9. Stay in Shape: Don't assume because you may be smaller than most attackers that you cannot win in a physical struggle. Do assume that if your out of shape, your ability to defend yourself against an attacker should it turn to a physical encounter, will be reduced.

10. Arm yourself with the right tools: You have to be CLEVER if you want to survive. Prepare ahead of time and Plan for the worst case scenario.

*Our Covert Mace Pepper Spray Ring will allow you to defend yourself at a moments notice by using the pepper spray in the ring to stop your attacker.

* The Double trouble Stun Gun packs a powerfull punch in the form of a double shock to your attacker.

* Who ever said dynamite comes in small packages must have been refferring to our Hot Shot Stun Gun that is the size of a folded $1 bill. Carry this in the palm of your hand while your heading to your car and give any attacker the shock of his life.

Use these 10 tips for Parking Lot Safety to increase your chances of survival should you be faced with the Unthinkable.
