Great items for the parrotlet lover

My daughter has a Blue Pacific Parrotlet named Bella. Here's how she came to have this bird.

She was volunteering one day a week at a bird store in Phoenix. She cleaned cages and did feedings and stuff, and when she was finished, she could hold the birds. Well, she noticed no one ever wanted to hold this tiny little parrotlet because it bit everyone that came near it. So she decided she would make friends with it, and that became her mission.

Every week she worked with the bird, and it came to love her. However, since no one else could make friends with it, the store couldn't sell it. Finally, the store manager came and made me a great deal on Bella, and my daughter brought her home. She still bites anyone else who comes near her, but at least she and my daughter have each other.

If you or someone you know has a parrotlet, you know how addicting they can be. What I've put together here is some great parrotlet gift items for both birds and people. I hope you'll find something you'll enjoy.

Parrotlets are teeny tiny little birds that think they are the size of a giant macaw. Very big on attitude.

Birdy Treehouse

Parrotlets may be able to be handled by several people, such as in a family, but they generally develop a decided preference for one person.

Prevue Cages

Simply the best

We have Prevue cages for our birds, and we really love them. They come in a number of configurations. The best thing about them is the wide seed guard at the bottom. It reduces the amount of seeds that get thrown out onto the table or floor significantly, making your bird's space a much better place. They are easy to clean, with the bottom drawer and bottom grate both easily sliding out. We give these cages very high marks.

It is important to try to be sensitive to a parrotlet's many moods. They are not the most easy-going pets.

Birdy Love

Bella gets her own design

Birdy Love is available from Cafepress on a variety of great gift items and apparel

Parrotlets may try to attack other pets that enter their territory. They are not intimidated by even much larger animals.

Super Deluxe Cages

While we can't quite swing a cage this beautiful yet, you'd better believe we will someday. This is a terrific cage. It has a rolling base, a ply top, a deep seed guard, and comes in a variety of colors to match any decor. Definitely worth checking out.

Parrotlets are not loud; they make charming little "peeps," but never scream as other birds can do.

Never heard of this bird. Very pretty, and I think it's sweet that your daughter reached out to something that no one else was willing to love!

I had never heard of a parrotlet either but now I am informed! She looks adorable.
And guess what? My security word is squidbird. Bird is the word. I couldn't resist.

Well, I feel stupid. I never even heard the term "parrotlet" before! But now I know, I learned something new ... can I go back to bed now? ;-) 5*!
