Online Parties
Online party know-how
An online party is just that, a party that you would have online just like you would have one in your home with Tupperware, Home Interior, Pampered Chef etc.
There are big differences of course. With an online party you usually don't have as much presentation time as you would with an in home party. Hey! You can sit in front of your computer in your pj's with an online party.
There are several people out there that host websites and chat rooms where you can have your online party.
(Check out the plexo list below as others add their websites).
At an online party you will find several people (vendors or presenters) presenting in a certain time frame. Some sites offer online parties one day a week, 2 days a week, once a month etc. Time slots for each presenter ranges from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
There is usually a charge by the person hosting the party. There is a wide arrange of pricing per time slot. Most online parties also ask that you donate a prize to be given out either during your presentation time or during the event.
There is a very wide range of items, products etc that you will find being presented at any online party.
You will find direct sales companies such at Watkins, Avon, Pampered Chef, Dove and many more that also so home parties. You will find people who make their own products such as bath products, candles, crafts etc. You will find some that are looking for others to sign up under them in consultant and direct sales companies. Sometimes you will even find parties that have special speakers in some of the slots on specific subjects.
Also note that you don't have to be the presenter....a lot of the people that do the online parties will have a hostess for their time slot. Being a hostess would be the same as hosting an in home party where depending on the sales at the party you earn hostess gifts. This is a great way to go.
There is some etiquette that goes along with the online parties.
1. If you are presenting, don't just show up for your own time frame and then leave. (Some hosts require that you are at least there 30 minutes prior to and 30 minutes after your presentation.)
2. Support the others that are presenting by paying attention to their presentation, checking out their stuff, commenting along the way so that they know you are paying attention.
3. Don't interupt a presentation with personal talk, or talk of your own business. The personal talk is somewhat acceptable as in giving a reason why you need to leave, or if you are invited to chit chat once the presenter is done and he or she has time remaining....or if the presenter themself says something personal that you can respond to.
(If you have other suggestions for the etiquette list, please leave them in the comments section)
Ready to get in to the online parties? I suggest you check out the different links in the plexo below. Go into a few of the parties and see how things work with each different host. Get to know some of the presenters, then choose a party website or websites that you want to get started with and have fun with it!
Many of the owners of the online party sites also offer very inexpensive advertising as well, so that is something else to consider.
If you are the owner of an online party website, or you know of good ones, please add them to the plexo below. Thanks!
