Making Contact for Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Growth
Partner Yoga - Making Contact for Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Growth
Amazon Price: $13.98 (as of 06/02/2012)![]()
Like food and water, touch and intimacy are basic human needs. As naked and vulnerable newborns, we thrive on skin-to-skin contact with other humans. Yet somewhere between infancy and adulthood, this fulfilling nourishment from touch is virtually lost. In today's high-tech world, most of us are more comfortable connecting with each other through machines and modems than our own skin. Yet for optimum health, we all need to touch-- and be touched.
Partner Yoga can be practiced with a friend, lover, gym buddy-- even your child. It can be practiced indoors, outdoors, in a group-- even on a beach.

The exercises build on one another, so couples can indulge in one stretch, a chapter sequence, or the entire book from beginning to end. Whether time allows for a few minutes or a few hours, Lovers' Yoga aims to renew the connection and reignite the passion.

Amazon Price: $37.95 (as of 06/02/2012)![]()
Contact: The Yoga of Relationships presents an inspiring new vision of yoga created to deepen your relationships with lovers, friends, family and other intimates in your life. Contact explores that mysterious and dynamic edge where two people connect: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Tara Lynda Guber and Anodea Judith offer valuable insight into the dynamics of all loving relationships, using poses designed for two participants that bridge the "Seven Points of Contact."
Contact brings these seven points (trust, passion, commitment, love, communication, vision, and union) into focus as points on the body, allowing patterns of connecting and distancing, loving and protecting, giving and receiving to be revealed at their deepest levels. Contact will appeal to all who seek depth and fulfillment in their relationships.

The Joy of Partner Yoga
The Joy of Partner Yoga
Amazon Price: $5.84 (as of 06/02/2012)![]()
Share the joys of yoga-and increase the benefits. The familiar postures of Hatha Yoga have renewed power and effectiveness when partners work together. Though all the asanas are touched upon, this comprehensive holistic program charts new ground in looking at a joint practice. There are creative interpretations for two of yogic breathing, symbolic hand gestures, mantras, and vinyasas-those special, flowing sequences of poses. For a restorative and healing workout, one person goes into repose while the other applies leans, stretches, twists, and compressions. Special advice on the art of partnering reveals how to create a positive, safe, and nurturing environment. In all the exchanges, the mutual support helps both people work better and improve alignment. Special black and white symbols representing each partner make directions easy to follow.
Have you tried partner yoga?
My husband and I used to teach partner yoga on Friday evenings for a date night alternative. I think we'll start that up again.

- I love yoga. I love my partner. This seems like such a great way to put the two together. My daughter and her friend did the boat pose together a few years ago and I photographed them as they laughed themselves silly - it's a wonderful bonding experiencing for partner/partner, parent/kid, and kid/kid. This is such a great compendium of partner poses. Thank you!

- The Yoga of Relationships looks very interesting. I tried shiatsu at one point. That didn't work at all but I really like the idea of partner Yoga. You've opened my eyes!

- I've only tried a little partner yoga, years ago. It would be fun to find another friend to work out some of the possibilities that you've shown here in the videos and photos. My husband and I are a little too mismatched (height-wise and flexibility wise) to do much of this :-)
