Party Like A Rockstar - Experience Da Shop Boyz Rap/Rock Mentality

Classifying their sound as "hood rock," Da Shop Boyz tried to separate themselves from the Atlanta crunk scene, but as their breakout single, Party Like a Rockstar, showed, the trio fit right in with its heavy bass and drums complemented by pop-savvy and edgy guitar riffs.

Cousins Meany (Demetrius Hardin) and Fat (Richard Stevens) along with their best friend Sheed (Rasheed Hightower) all from Atlanta began to see their careers take off when they met a local producer, Richard "Fire" Harris and OnDeck Records CEO Brian "Bingo" Ward, who allowed them to record in his studios.

For about three years, the Shop Boyz were releasing straight-to-street albums and mixtapes, but when they recorded Party Like a Rockstar, they knew they had a hot single on their hands.

The song turned into one of Atlanta's biggest hits that year, prompting Universal Republic to pick up the single for national distribution and offer the Shop Boyz a major recording contract. When the single was officially released for digital sales, Party Like a Rockstar shot up to the number two spot on all of the pop charts.

Moments before taking the field, a number of MLB baseball teams are jamming out to Da Shop Boyz's hot new hit "Party Like a Rock Star". The song is blaring from the clubhouse speakers and everyone is loving it.

Giving much credit to Party Like a Rockstar, Da Shop Boyz has emerged into the music scene very quickly yet they did have to struggle to get to this point.

Demetrius "Meanie" Hardin and Richard "Fat" Stephens are cousins who grew up together in Atlanta, Georgia and happened to meet Rasheed "Sheed" Hightower at one point.

The group's unique sound helped to spread their fame which was eventually heard by producer Richard "Fire" Harris. The local producer immediately saw a potential and offered to supply beats for free. Soon afterwards, the group was introduced to Brian "Bingo" Ward who was more than happy to provide the studio and engineer the recording. Many songs were created in the studio including their popular single Party Like a Rock Star that has raised them to the spotlight.
