One of your friends got promoted in his job. Some of your friends decide to surprise him with a party and since you are the least busy among them, it was decided that you will be the chief party organizer. What with your credential: extrovert, outgoing, loves to be with people and considered the life of any party. Thus, the case was closed.

At first you thought it would be fun but then it slowly dawned upon you-what party theme to choose, where it will be held, how many will be invited, how would you send-out the invitations, the budget, the food, the drinks%u2026so many things to do yet so little time because all this will have to be finalized in one week. Panic sets in.

This is a common reaction for people tasked with organizing parties whether bachelorette, anniversary, pajama sleepover/slumber, retirement, welcome home, engagement or sixteenth birthday party. It's easy to be discouraged because of the tons of work that needs to be done as well as the very tight schedule going to the big day.

However, if you try to think about it, it only boils down to two things: planning and preparation. You may have all the time in the world and all resources are available to you but without proper planning and preparation all will come to naught. The desired party will be a disaster.

First things first, you have to decide the date of the party. By deciding on the final day of the party you'll undoubtedly set off a string of events and will formally launch you into action. Because you now have a specific deadline to beat and you can now make your own time-table as regards the activities that needs to be done.

In management, they call this the Gantt chart wherein you will list and prioritize the things that are necessary in attaining your objective of a great party. You can call these the tasks. Alongside to it are the hours or days needed to complete it so that if you total all the hours or days needed for each task you'll arrive at the day you've set for your party.

One such task is finalizing your party theme. Definitely you'll just need minutes or at the most several hours only pondering on the subject. The party theme, to make it more fun could range from luau and beach, sports, nfl, rock and roll, tv movies or Hollywood themes.

Now, after deciding on a specific party theme you'll need now to finalize the food. Will it be home cooked or catered. If you still have the luxury of time and the party day is still several weeks away, you can opt for the home-cooked option. With this option however, you'll have to find somebody willing to help you prepare and cook the dishes. The advantage of this option meanwhile is that this is more cost friendly than the catered ones. If on the other hand, the party is just around the corner, you'll have to call your friendly caterer to ask for some deliveries instead.

Next decide on the venue of the party, whether it will be held in the place of your friend who was promoted or somewhere else. The location of the party is also important to you as it will tell you what should be the placement of the tables for the food, the area if you decide to have games and to decide the overall physical look of the place as well as its decorations.

The next thing to do is to confirm how many would be attending. Again this is important as this will show you how many drinks to order and the type of foods to prepare. Will this just be an event for all your close friends or will even the families of each of your friends be invited is a question that also needs to be answered.

And finally, you'll also have to plan on what to add as the finishing touches for the party. One suggestion would be to have a party theme confetti around.
