My 6 year old daughter is really enjoying this item. For me, it's more of a novelty item since it only makes 7 mini's at a time and it's easier and more time efficient to make a pan of 24 at a time, but I won't deny my daughter the enjoyment of it. Tip: Use an oven mitt to open the lid once their baked as hot steam is emitted and can burn your hand (I know this from first hand experience). Otherwise, it's pretty much "plug and play."

I watched this movie during the toonie march break special. I didn't get a chance to see it when it was out in theatres. It was packed and it was fun listening to about 500 kids giggling all througout the film. They were riveted in their seats *A+ for any movie that can do that* and the adults found it enjoyable too.

the animation effects are amazing in this film. It all looks so real and it's very funny.
I had fun listening to 500 kids with very few adults, giggling over this movie during march break.
the younger children under 6 were restless and didn't sit down during the film, so be warned it can be boring for that age group.
I found adults there with no kids (myself included) because I was a huge yogi bear fan (loved the cartoons as a child).
it's like a nice disney movie the kind they used to make for herbie, and bed knobs and broomsticks or the sound of music. If you like those type of disney films you will enjoy this one too.

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Party Chocolate-Coated Popped Corn. This popcorn has a delicious chocolate topping, and it is perfect for munching on while you watch a movie or ballgame. Or, you can enjoy it as a comfort food when you want to curl up on the couch!
Ingredients:
5 to 8 cups popped popcorn, with unpopped kernels removed (This will heavily coat a microwave package of popped corn. If you like a thinner coating, you can use 2 microwave packages, or just refrain from pouring all the topping on your popcorn.)
½ stick butter, melted
1 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ to ½ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup peanuts (optional) (I did not use nuts, but you may add any nuts of your choice.)
Cooking oil spray
Begin by popping the corn you want to coat with caramel topping. Then, spray a large bowl and a large spoon with cooking oil spray. Place about half of the popped popcorn into the sprayed bowl. Now, prepare your topping. In a medium-sized saucepan, melt ½ stick butter. Add 1 cup light brown sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, 2 tablespoons cocoa, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, and ½ cup peanuts (if desired). Mix together, and bring to a boil over medium heat. When the mixture is at a full, rolling boil, cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and add ¼ to ½ teaspoon of baking soda. Stir the baking soda briskly into the cooked coating mixture. The consistency of the mixture will change, and it will bubble up some. Continue to stir, occasionally, as the coating begins to cool. After about a couple of minutes, the coating will thicken and begin to lose its gloss. Quickly pour about half of it over the popcorn in the greased bowl. (Make sure you dont let the topping set up before you get your popcorn coated!) Gently stir the popcorn/coating mixture with the greased spoon. Working quickly, add as much more popcorn as you want to coat, pour the remaining coating over the popcorn, and stir quickly, but gently. When the popcorn is coated to your satisfaction, pour it out onto a baking pan that has been covered with waxed paper. Spread it out as evenly as possible. Let it cool, (which will be very quick), and then break it apart and place it in serving bowls. Enjoy!!! Happy movie! Happy ballgame! Happy comfort food!

Betty's Kitchen Valentine's Day Red Velvet Cake Recipe

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make a Red Velvet Cake. This is an "early" Valentine's dessert for her husband, Rick. It is a four-layer cake that is chocolate-y and colored with red food coloring. It is a beautiful cake!
Ingredients:
1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened to room temperature
2 1/2 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 cups self-rising flour (If you use plain flour, for each cup of plain flour, add 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder to covert to self-rising flour.)
8 oz. sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
(2) 1-oz. bottles red food coloring
Beat 1 cup butter at medium speed with electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add 2 1/2 cups sugar, continuing to beat until light and fluffy. Add 6 eggs, one at a time, beating just until blended after each addition. Stir together 3 cups self-rising flour and 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder. Add to butter mixture alternately with 8 oz. sour cream, beating at low speed just until blended. Stir in 2 teaspoons vanilla and (2) 1-oz. bottles red food coloring. Stir until well blended.
Divide batter into 4 equal parts, and pour batter into (4) 9-inch cake pans that have been greased and floured. Use 2 racks to bake the 4 layers in a 350 oven for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in each comes out clean. Remove cake pans from oven and set aside and cool to room temperature before frosting. Now, make your Cream Cheese Frosting. You will find an upload for this recipe in bettyskitchen, preceding this upload. Chill the Cream Cheese Frosting, and then assemble your cake. Remove each layer of cake from its pan, one by one, and place them on a nice cake stand. Spread Cream Cheese Frosting between the layers as you assemble your cake. Next, spread Cream Cheese Frosting around the sides of the cake, and finally on top. Swirl the frosting on the top and sides for a nice look. (I put 4 skewers, extending through the layers to make sure the cake would not shift before it had time to set up.)
Place the cake in a refrigerator to firm up. This cake takes a lot of space, so you may have to dispense with the skewers or make only a 2-layer cake on a flat cake dish. (I removed a shelf from my refrigerator in order to accomodate the cake, after covering it with plastic wrap.) Keep the cake refrigerated, because the frosting is not meant to sit at room temperature. If you cannot use all of this cake at one time, you may cut it into usable chunks and freeze them. Start with branches from a boxwood bush, you can get these from your local florist. Soak a block of oasis for 10-15 minutes, then cut off angled pieces to make a pyramidal shape. Wrap the oasis in foil and poke the branches into it, maintaining a conical tree shape. Finally, decorate your creation with ornaments of your choice. Enjoy!
