Riley doesn't have any new movies posted yet on imbd so I'll let you know when he does. He plays the director in the boys filming in the Super 8 Movie. I love how he's got scripts and science stuff all over his room in the film. (great set props person - designer there)
It's cool watching the kids filming by the train station and how he directs and is emphatic about how they should act and look in the film. It was very believable and there are moments in this scene which will take your breath away...

two things to beware.
first make sure the parents are ok with the teens watching the type of movie you plan to rent
I would talk to the parents before choosing any films.
Some parents allow their teens to watch anything they want, even restricted films
so sound them out and see if all is okay before choosing a film to watch.
some are strict about what their young teen see's and that can be an issue causing a rift between the two teens and parents
you don't want any drama on your teens birthday so best to get that one out of the way first.
next you want to make sure you have a PIN number on your digital box
many times (i used to work in customer service for a cable company) parents find out AFTER the fact that one of the teens
decides to order a porno or film instead of watching the DVD you've rented.
Never give the pin number to your teen for this reason.
they can always ASK you the parent to order a film for them.
and they can decide what they want the day before and preorder a film for a set time or wait till everyone's there then call and order.
I received hundreds of irrate parents demanding a credit for a film not ordered, only to find out one of the teens friends did it without their knowlege (walks into another room during a party sits down and orders it)
stuff like that :)

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make her Old Standby Chewy Peanut Squares. These are made by pouring a tasty peanut butter sauce over cereal flakes, then cutting them into individual serving pieces once they are set up.
Ingredients:
½ cup butter
¾ cup white syrup or Karo's light corn syrup
¾ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
¾ cup creamy peanut butter
4 cups Special K or cornflakes cereal (I used Special K with chocolate pieces.)
Place ½ cup butter, ¾ cup white syrup or light corn syrup, and ¾ cup sugar in a medium to large pot. Place over medium heat, and bring to a boil. Boil 2 ½ minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla and ¾ cup creamy peanut butter. In a large bowl, place 4 cups of Special K or cornflakes cereal. Pour the peanut butter sauce mixture over the cereal and mix thoroughly. Press into a 9-inch square pan. Let sit at room temperature for about half an hour, and then refrigerate for another half-hour. Cut into 16 squares and place on a nice serving dish. These keep well at room temperature throughout the day, but for longer storage, you may refrigerate or freeze them. This is a great pick-up dessert for your Super Bowl party! In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Chewy Chocolate Drop Cookies. These are conveniently made with a cake mix and just a few other ingredients. They look yummy and taste great!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
18.25-oz. chocolate cake mix (I used a Dark Chocolate Fudge cake mix.)
2 eggs, well-beaten
1 tablespoon water
1/2cup confectioner's sugar, placed in a shallow bowl
cooking oil spray
In a large mixing bowl, use a pastry blender (or fork) to blend ½ cup butter and an 18.25-oz. package of chocolate cake mix, until the mixture is crumbly. Add 2 well-beaten eggs and 1 tablespoon water and stir until smooth. Let mixture rest 5 minutes. Use a spoon to get enough of the mixture out to form a 1-inch ball. Drop the mixture into the shallow bowl of confectioner's sugar.
Use your hands to roll the mixture into a ball, coating it with confectioner's sugar. Place the coated chocolate ball in a baking pan that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Continue until all chocolate mixture has been made into coated chocolate drops. Bake at 375 degrees (F) for 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute in pan. Remove to wire rack and cool completely. These cookies will flatten during the baking process, and they will show a dusting of confectioner's sugar on top of the chocolate cookie. These are tremendously quick and easy to make, and they look beautiful and taste wonderful! I hope you enjoy this recipe! --Betty %uF04A

Ingredients:
1 package hot dogs
1 package hot dog buns
Betty's Own Super Bowl Chili Sauce, heated and ready to serve from crock pot
shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
chopped fresh onions
sauerkraut, drained
sweet or dill pickle relish
mustard and ketchup, and other condiments, as desired
Boil as many hot dogs as desired in water, according to package instructions, about 4 minutes. Steam buns, if desired, for about 2 minutes. (I did the boiling of the hot dogs and the steaming of the buns with an appliance called "The Steamie.") When ready to assemble your Winning Super Bowl Chili Cheese Hot Dogs, lift each hot dog out of boiling water using tongs, and let it drain a bit before inserting it into steamed bun.
Use a slotted spoon the hold the amount of chili sauce you want, and let the liquid drain from it back into the crock pot. Then arrange the chili sauce from the slotted spoon on top of the hot dog. Sprinkle with shredded sharp Cheddar cheese and chopped onions. Place over steam for an additional 2 minutes to melt the cheese on top. Serve immediately.
You may use just the chili sauce or just the cheese to top the hot dog. You may also choose any of the following as additional toppers: mustard, ketchup, sweet or dill pickle relish, sauerkraut, and other condiments, as desired. mix equal parts of orange juice, red or white cranberry juice and gingerale
pour in 1/2 a shot of lemon juice and you got a great drink.
Add 3 ice cubes to make it cold.
You could grind up the ice and add french vanilla ice cream to make this into a cool float add an umbrella :)
ADD some extra punch to this move me thought...
drink 1/2 cup of Prune Juice (on it's own) before you have the fruity drink
I guarantee it will move you within 3 hours time and it helps get rid of gas pains.

bettyskitchen - August 29, 2009 - In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie Squares. This was a special request from her son-in-law, Chris, who preferred these cookies to the traditional birthday cake for his birthday celebration! They are dark chocolate flavor, and contain peanut butter and oatmeal, making them more nutritious than the average cookie.
Ingredients:
½ cup milk
¼ cup butter or margarine, melted
½ cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup smooth or chunky peanut butter
2 ½ cups quick-cooking oats
Place ½ cup milk, ¼ cup melted butter or margarine, ½ cup cocoa, and 2 cups sugar into a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve sugar. Boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ½ cup peanut butter, and 2 ½ cups quick-cooking oats. You may finish these cookies up in a couple of ways. 1) Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper, and let set up for about ½ hour or 2) Pour mixture into a large (13-inch by 9-inch by 2-inch) greased pan and cool, then cut into equally-sized squares. This is a traditional cookie recipe in my part of the country. These cookies are great as snacks for children, and are great as lunchbox items, but big kids like them, too!

You can get a group of friends together and everyone pitch in with the ingredients.
Make your snacks have a few along with a movie
then take some to school the next day and sell them or hand them out
if your having a "garage" or "yard" sale you can also sell some cookies and goodies
for 50 cents to a dollar each!
add some lemonade or ice tea on a hot sunny day - charge 50 cents to a dollar per cup (styrofoam)
Make sure you have a BIG garbage can nearby and use paper plates with glad wrap to cover your cookies
and keep bugs or flies off them on your sales table.
I would set it up in a shady area.

Filled with ice cream sandwich bars, Oreo cookie chunks, hot fudge topping, chocolate pudding mix, and bound together with whipped topping, this dessert is a luscious as you can find!
Ingredients:
½ cup hot fudge ice cream topping, at room temperature
16 oz. container whipped topping
1 small package chocolate pudding mix
8 Oreo cookies, cut into chunks
12 chocolate ice cream sandwich bars
Choose your serving dish before assembling this dessert. In a large mixing bowl, combine 8 oz. whipped topping with ½ cup hot fudge ice cream topping. Mix in 1 small package chocolate pudding mix and 8 chunked Oreo cookies. On the serving dish, place 4 ice cream sandwiches, right next to each other and centered in the serving dish. Spread with ½ of the whipped topping mixture. Repeat this process to get at second layer of 4 ice cream sandwiches, topped by the remaining whipped topping mixture. Top this off with 4 more ice cream sandwiches. Quickly spread the remaining 8 oz. whipped topping around the sides and over the top of the cake. Immediately place into the freezer for a quick freeze. I love writing novels and my young Adult books are for "older" teens. Since they have a few sections that talk about sex in them. I usually recommend kids from 15 and up to read my novels. Not all of them will have sex scenes in them. I might even remove them if I have to make them marketable to a bigger audience.The Munroe Series is about a mansion that is cursed, people that cast spells as jokes or to teach others a lesson. Then we have a few serial killers in the story. You may or may not know who they are but if you do, then the characters don't. Just like to create some suspense for my readers!

In my screenplay Forgive Me I'm Not Perfect - the story is about Sadie Johnson coming home with a golden idol, finding out it's cursed then she has to race against the clock to return it to Egypt or she could die from an ancient curse. It's also a funny tale about all the BAD LUCK she gets for taking the idol in the first place!
In my other novels "the calamity girl series" is about Rachel Tornquist who is a writer. She meets a movie producer and goes on an adventure across the country visiting various restaurants and tourist attractions. You will learn about the fashion industry, New York City, California, Universal Studios, How they film a movie and read a funny story about a girl who is ALWAYS having bad luck!
It gets funnier as her bad luck starts to affect four other people that she is hanging out with. Then we learn what friendship is all about.

It's a good idea to pick 3 Comedy Movies and 3 Scary Movies. That way you can vote on which one to watch. Have a video scavenger list prepared, with some questions for fun. ie. What did Joanie eat at the diner, the first time she met Jed? What was she wearing for their first date?

-Have an RSVP date a week before the party
-Plan a Menu, and party eats

My 12th Birtday Sleepover Party - A Sweet Memory

I remember my 12th birthday with my 3 friends, Angela, Patricia and Caroline. They came over around supper time and we were playing out in the yard (blind man's bluff) and waiting for my Father to finish BBQing the burgers and hotdogs. It was an easy supper with burgers, hotdogs, chips and for dessert we had a Chocolate McCain Cake (12 birthday candles - mini bonfire!).
Later on we did facials, each others nails then watched a movie. It was a memorable party and my last birthday ever celebrated.
By the next day we were fighting and miserable because we had stayed up all night gabbing about the boys we liked and loved. We divulged many secrets to one another and made a pact never to tell a soul.
I didn't see much of the girls after that because I ended up moving out of town and lost touch. I am still friends with one of the girls (Angela -36 year friendship - we met when I was 7 years old.) and sometimes we talk about that party and how much fun we had. It will always be a sweet and happy memory for me.
Later on we did facials, each others nails then watched a movie. It was a memorable party and my last birthday ever celebrated.

Not all of the novels have sex scenes in them, so I can pull it if I need to.

The Munroe Mansion is a Young Adult story about the "virgin slayer"
You actually will not find out WHY Joseph Munroe is thought to be the Virgin Slayer until book 3 (which I am currently writing)
I thought it would be fun to have his story told in different ways.
This is where the sex scenes come in because Joseph is that type of person and so is Lorraine Picard.
Those two characters are always involved in things that are sexual.
My younger characters are innocent with kisses and holding hands (13 and 15 years old Jake and Jesseline meet on the RMS Olympia on a trip from Canada to England)
As for my novels being YOUNG ADULT.
I would suggest the first novel for ages over 15.
If the sexual content is too offensive I will be changing it.
I'm still trying to get the "guidelines" on it.
But I was told that Twilight's breaking dawn is pretty sexual so I'm okay I guess.

Rachel Tornquist is my main character in this story line along with Michael Ferreras he's a movie producer.
I teach about how a movie is made in this story, what a business woman does on her job and I talk about dating and relationships.
Rachel is always having bad luck so that adds some humor to this young adult story about a girl who meets a boy and doesn't want him.
In the meantime, he becomes a knight in shining armor because she's always getting herself into trouble and he becomes her hero.
No it's not a medieval flick, but something modern, funny and entertaining for both girls and guys.
I put it as women's fiction (broader market) but it's more an action, adventure , funny story for all ages.
I talk about them having sex but theres NO details in this book so I think it's safe for all teens ages 13 +
Now my blog is about relationships and dating for college, older teens.
I also post travel and tourism ideas there and fun games, videos of rides from theme parks.
I also post new music, artists, the arts fan videos from Toronto and New York City (Improv videos are hilarious!)

HOW TO MAKE UNYA MUNYA

We had gone to Julio's Pizza and were finished eating. Our ritual was to make UNYA MUNYA before we left. We would take the left over pop jug and put our pizza crusts, dirty napkins and utensils in it. It was our idea of helping to clean up the table as teens. They would only have to pull out the forks then dump it in the garbage. Great idea eh?
