We live in a passive solar home. We heat, cool and power our home using solar energy. We have even created a website that not only tells how we do it, but shows you as well using videos. We would like to show you what it is like living in a passive solar home. It is our goal to continually improve this site with new ideas.

What Is A Passive Solar Home?

Simply put, it is a house that is designed to take advantage of the heating properties of the sun. It uses free green solar energy as a heating source and in many designs, it does not even require any additional costs.

Our home takes advantage of this renewable energy. Our living room, dining room and all three bedrooms face the sun. During the winter months, our house is mainly heated this way. The savings in not using other non-renewable energy sources is significant.

Our passive solar home requires no additional maintenance. There are no filters to change or bills to pay. We just open the blinds and let the sun shine in.

There is a lot of talk these days about going green. Consider using passive solar design in your next home or addition.

Great lens - I've read most of your recommended books.
Solar power is sort of like investing if you make the right choices up front it really can pay off big.
I like how you show that a typical homeowner building a house can save lots of money designing the home to take advantage of daylighting, shade in the summer and free heat in the winter.
