Help! I'm locked out of my account!

From time to time, we all forget our password. Or we change email addresses and can't retrieve it. Oops!

Whether you need a simple password reset or have forgotten your username altogether, read on to find out what information we need to prove that you're you and get you back on the path to making great lenses.

Forgot your password?

Do a simple password reset

If your password reset isn't working

File a bug report and include the following information:
1. your username
2. the email address on your account

We'll reset your password and send it to the email address on your account.

If you have a different email address...

Password resets automatically go to the email address on your account, so if your email has changed, you won't get it.

To have your password reset, send the following info in a bug report:
1. your username
2. the email address on your account
3. your new email address
4. links to your lenses

We'll send directions for resetting your password and changing your email address on file.
Important!

We're serious about security

We don't want just anyone gaining access to your account, so we recommend changing your password often and making it tricky to guess. If we're not confident you're the true owner of an account, we'll ask more questions to verify your identity. Thanks for letting us help you. We know you'd want us to do it if someone were trying to be naughty!

TIps for selecting a password

Selecting a solid password is as important as keeping it safe. Unlike in Dinner for Schmucks, do NOT select p-a-s-s-w-o-r-d as your password. :)
  1. Make your password a non-dictionary word. Make it up or combine words.
  2. Use letters AND numbers if you can, and uppercase letters if possible.
  3. Don't use your kids or pets names, or birth or anniversary dates.
  4. Don't use your username as your password.
  5. Don't use the same password across websites. If one is compromised they're all compromised.
  6. Don't use numbers such as your debit card PIN.
  7. Change your password frequently or if you ever think it may be at risk.
