Password Reset Utility

I have come across a few mostly free password reset utilities that are safe to put on your machine:

I mention this one because, not only is it safe to put on your machine, but it is easy to use. Even if you only have basic knowledge of how Windows works, you will still be able navigate this program. All you have to do is download the free ISO image and burn it to a bootable CD. This one works a little differently; instead of recovering your lost password, it erases the windows password and you simply login into your system without a password. You can also just reset the password to something new instead. This is very useful if you need to recover files off a machine you lost access too. WARNING: XP, Vista and 7 all have password protected files; if any of the files were password protected, and encrypted, if you reset the password or flat remove it, access to those files will be gone. Cain and Abel is another free password reset tool that works great and will not damage your machine. This program is a bit harder to use than most password tools, so you will need to research them to see if they are right for you.

Cain and Abel worked well on Windows XP, but I had trouble getting it to work correctly on Windows Vista. A friend of mine told me he was able to get it to work just fine on Windows 7. While it is a bit hard to work with, it does do its job flawlessly (when it works). Simply open the program choose what you want, and boom, you are done. Password Resetter, while it does cost money, the program is well worth the investment. It comes with several features such as a graphical user interface, all windows platforms supported, unlimited lifetime upgrades for free, automatically creates bootable USB and CD images, and I get 24 hour technical support. Now how can I beat that?!

Easy to Use

The top three password reset utilities that I would recommend for easy to use would be Ophcrack Windows password Cracker, Offline NT Password and Password Resetter. All of these programs are easy to use and those with basic knowledge of Windows will have no problem working with them.

My number one suggestion however would have to be the Password Resetter. I can download the software straight to my computer, and after it loads, it will automatically create my bootable CD or USB drive for me without me messing things up. Then all I have to do is start this little gem of a program and it goes to work resetting my password. The best part is, I do not even have to type or click on anything for this program to work. I simply boot the machine, and boom, the program is working!

Quick and Reliable Technical Support

If Password Resetter fails to recover the password, nothing is done to the machine; it just fails to recover the password. I can then call technical support and find out what to do next! That level of service is unheard of for most any other product!
