Enlightenment may not be easy, but it is simple
What is enlightenment? En-light-enment means to be full of light. To become full of light you must first be able to see the light in all things. In order to see the light, you must be able and willing to see what IS. When you are able to see what IS you become a Realist -- you see what is real. A realist knows what is real and lives from that place. What is real is the truth. Living from the truth leads to enlightenment.
The average person has difficulty seeing what IS. In a crime scene for example, every witness tells a different story. What actually happened just IS. However, people see what IS differently, depending on their conditioning, beliefs, emotional state and frame of mind at the time the event happened. The discrepancy between what IS, and what one believes they saw leads to confusion and makes the truth difficult to see. We do this with self as well. Until we have done sufficient work with awareness, we are only aware of certain parts of the self. Often, we only see what we want to see. Our self-image is very different than what IS. If we do not see what IS, we cannot heal or transform it. Personal growth requires healing and transformation. Healing and transformation are prerequisites to enlightenment.
If you believe the bath water is cold, you will add hot water to it. If, on the other hand, you tell yourself that the water is warm even though it is cold, you will not take any action to transform the water into something comfortable. If you believe you are healthy and healed in an area where you are not, you will never heal or transform it.
The first step to Enlightenment is Awareness. We must increase our Awareness. In order to increase our Awareness we must allow what IS. Too many people try to avoid what is. This kills Awareness as to avoid what IS we must close down our Awareness. To increase our Awareness we must be a Realist. A Realist allows and accepts what IS. Once you allow and accept what IS, then you can transform what IS. You cannot transform what IS if you avoid it.
This is one of the biggest pitfalls in personal growth and a spiritual path. When we increase our Awareness, we see things in self we do not like. A common reaction to this is to avoid and deny what we see, what IS. When we go into avoidance and denial, we kill our Awareness and lose our opportunity to heal, transform and grow.
To grow and evolve we must deal with what IS at its level, not at the level we wish it to be. We must be Realists, willing to see what IS without avoidance and denial. When we fully allow what IS into our Awareness, our Awareness grows. As our Awareness grows, we bring more light into what IS and it transforms. When we apply this to self, we bring in more light to self. As the self that you are fills with light, you are quickly on the road to becoming enlightened.

- Yes, enlightenment is acceptance. Accepting and being willing to see what is, is the starting point.
You commented on my other article - The Golden Flow - The Secret Behind the Secret. In fact, the full name for the first Golden Flow series is the Golden Flow of Acceptance.
The truth reveals itself only if we have the awareness of, and are willing to accept what it is we are looking at without avoidance, denial or projection. If you wish to change what you see, first you must welcome it fully through acceptance. Acceptance allows transformation.
This is why acceptance is the first step to freedom from suffering. Accepting and welcoming what is and then releasing it, allows flow and transformation to occur.

- Correct me if Im wrong, but Buddha describes enlightenment as the end of suffering. Suffering is burning energy on the uncontrolable. So in simple words, enlightenment is acceptance.
There was a motivational speech somewhere that said "give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change...and the courage to change the things I cannot accept" :)
