Patong Beach

Patong Beach is an interesting place. The beach is dirty and overcrowded, the people are an odd mix and the vibe is decidedly seedy, but for some reason, Patong Beach remains the most visited beach in all of Phuket.

So what is it that attracts people to Patong Beach? It isn't the scenery. The reason people come to Patong Beach is because it's easy. While it isn't always cheap, Patong Beach has pretty much everything. There are guesthouses, luxury hotels and lively nightlife.

The backpacker scene is pretty active at Patong Beach. The restaurants in Patong are pretty average for the most part. You'll find a lot of overpriced restaurants in the center, but on the outskirts there are some cheap street vendors.

The main thing that Patong Beach has going for it is the nightlife. You can't escape from the nightlife in Patong. There are go-go bars and beers bars and everything else in between. Patong Beach is one of the few places in Phuket where you can stay out partying until the sun comes up.

You'll probably either love or hate Patong Beach. We're kind of in the middle. Patong Beach has its uses, namely cheap beer and all-night discos.

The best time to visit Patong Beach is definitely during low season when the tourist numbers start to drop off. Even in low season, however, you'll find that Patong Beach is still a relatively busy area compared to other Phuket beaches.
