After many years of having a more quiet movie career, he made a great appearance as a sleazy motivational speaker in the cult movie Donnie Darko, released in 2001. Sadly he's recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. However, it's not stopped him from starring in the hit cable tv show The Beast.

Okay, so this is my "guilty pleasure" Swayze movie, the sort of thing you really hope is on cable tv on a night you can't sleep or when you're home with the flu. Patrick plays Bodhi, a surf guru who moonlights as a bank robber to fund his ocean-oriented summers. The action is pretty good and Patrick even did his own sky-diving.
