Patrick O'Hearn and Zappa - most incredible music!
Solo, or with Frank Zappa - Patrick O'Hearn can be heard on some of the greatest music ever recorded!
The Solo Music of Patrick O'Hearn
New age progresive music from a master bass player
It's interesting that Patrick O'Hearn took a career departure and went New Age on us! But the truth is that new age instrumental music was great! It turned out to be some of the best the genre has ever seen (or heard!)
Whatever you call it, music from Patrick O'Hearn has been very inspiring to me as a musician. His sounds and textures are first rate!
Between Two Worlds and Rivers Gonna Rise are my favorite cd's from Patrick's solo works.
Did you knbow that Patrick played with Zappa's band for a few years? He can be heard oncountless Zappa live concerts and cd's.
Also, a lesser know fact is that Patrick O'Hearn formed Group 87 with Mark Isham and guitarist Peter Maunu in 1979 along with his Zappa alumni Terry Bozzio on drums. This band was among the best ever! I was fortunate to have seen them live a few times in the Bay Area, minus Bozzio, and they were absolutely spectacular! I actually have cassetes somewhere with a few shows recorded on the sly.
Man, that really brings back memories!
I also was fortunate to see Patrick play live with Missing Persons in L.A. on several occasions. That was another super band with Terry Bozzio and Patrick forming the best rhytm section in modern music!
If you are not yet familiar with Patrick's music - check out everything you can! It's all good!
