Pattaya Hotel Guide and Review

Pattaya is an internationally well known destination for sun and fun. Now it may not be in the same category as Cannes in France in terms of glamour and style. But nonetheless thousands of visitors descend upon Pattaya's bars, clubs, and yes of the course the go-go bars in search of the time of their lives.

Pattaya did not start out as a hot spot for fun and adult entertainment. It was really just a small sleepy side fishing village until US soldiers came across from the Vietnam war for rest and recreation.

Thanks for reading this lens. I travel to Thailand frequently for vacation and business. As an independent reviewer I'm obligated to provide you with the best information in a concise format. All the hotels listed in this review is right for every budget. I enjoy writing travel information and I hope what you find here helps you out. So if you like what you see here, then please rate this lens with the stars you see on top. Take care and have a great vacation.

The soldiers are long gone but the legacy they have left in Pattaya remains. Today their footprints in the sand are replaced by tourist, mostly males, from all over the world who walk the streets in search of good fun and entertainment.

In addition to adult entertainment Pattaya's beaches are there as well for relaxation or just to waste the day away in the sun.

Scuba diving, snorkeling and island excursions are also recommended if that is the sort of thing you enjoy. But it is better to hire a tour guide who can take you to areas a bit of the beaten track. This would be a good idea as certain parts of Pattaya may not have water conditions ideal for swimming.

Where To Stay In Pattaya Thailand

Pattya City View At Night

Pattaya offers visitors a wide choices of accommodations that fits all types of budgets. From beach bungalows with no frills service, to the poshest seaside resorts with servants at your beck and call. It doesn't matter how deep your pockets are, you will be able to find a room that you can afford.

There are rumors that Pattaya will eventually be over run by corporate hotel chains that will drive up prices. But after traveling to Pattaya and the rest of Thailand for so long I think prices will still be affordable no matter what as competition amongst the local business is fierce.

In this lens I am only recommending hotels that I have actually stayed in. I believe when you are on vacation, your hotel accommodations should be a part of your overall vacation experience. So it should be stress free.

All the recommended hotels are arranged by price from low to high.

All rates are based on low season. So check out the links for more up to date room rates.

Jomtien Orchid Hotel in Pattaya Review

Rates starting at 860THB ($25 USD) per night include taxes and breakfast.

Jomtien Orchid HotelThe Jomtien Orchid hotel offers decent rooms for the price. Every one of the rooms is graced by attractive decors and impressive wall hangings but the furniture is a bit dated. Make sure you ask for a room with a sea view. I was first given a room overlooking a parking lot but my request was granted with a smile.

The front staff spoke minimal English and are quite polite during my stay and checking in was easy.

The hotel offers a decent swimming pool. The only complaint is that it is quite small which would be a problem if the hotel is booked full. It wasn't a problem for me as I spent most my days by the beach which wasn't quite far anyways.

Jomtien Orchid HotelThe restaurant in the hotel is pretty decent with some inexpensive traditional Thai dishes. But the best thing to do is to eat outside. Their are plenty of great restaurants that line the beach or are near it. So go ahead and support the local Thai businesses. The menus in these restaurants are usually in English as they expect a lot of foreign guest. By the ways beers are cheaper too outside. This hotel is a little bit far from the center of activity such as Walking Street and sometimes it's hard to catch a cab in this area. But if you want to stay in a clean hotel while you save some money then this is the place for you.

Cosy Beach Hotel in Pattaya Review

Rates starting at 1200THB ($34 USD) per night includes taxes and breakfast.

Cosy Beach Hotel

When I first stayed in Cosy Beach hotel I was impressed by the way the hotel was designed. It honestly looked to me like a hotel straight out of Miami Florida. A lot of wood and marble with subtle tones of earthy brown. But it still retains it's tropical setting and feeling. Most hotels in my opinion take out most of their natural surroundings which takes away the feeling that you are on vacation.

There are lots of hotel facilities available to guest who stay at Cosy Beach Hotel in Pattaya. There are two swimming pools with steps leading down to the quiet sandy beach. And it seemed quite popular with conference groups as during my stay in September of 2008 I was in the midst of three companies running different conferences. Even though their were a lot of guest I found myself still quite relaxed and had plenty of space to feel alone.

Cosy Beach HotelI have stayed in the standard rooms and superior rooms previously. Both are great with excellent amenities, but if you can, spring for the superior rooms. It's only a $10 USD difference and in my opinion worth it.

Walking Street and all the other hub of activities in South Pattaya is just a 10 minute taxi ride away. Taxi drivers don't have a problem at all finding this hotel so it shouldn't be a problem. One word of caution however, don't take a taxi that is waiting for guest to come out of the hotel. The guys driving the taxis are not dangerous, but they'll nag you to go to certain bars and clubs that you don't want to go to. They're basically salesman who get a commission from such bars and clubs who want you to spend money at their place of business.

Cosy Beach is a nice little oasis away from the grime of Walking Street. Pool is a really nice addition and the rooms are not too shabby. The only thing I don't like is they don't keep the breakfast hot enough and could cause illness.

Green Park Resort in Pattaya Review

Rates starting at 1350 THB ($39 USD) per night inlcudes taxes and breakfast.

Green Park Resort

The Green Park Resort Hotel is situated at the heart of the city. I really enjoy the design of this hotel property. This hotel is really filled with Thai character and charm. Though the location of this hotel is relatively close to everything it's still able to retain the feeling of island seclusion.

The rooms have been newly refurbished in 2008. The standard room I stayed in was fine, but my friends rooms looked a little bit rushed. But all in all the bed was nice and comfortable and room amenities were excellent for the price. I walked by the bungalow rooms before and it looked really nice. Someday I'm going to give it a try and I'll let everyone know how it really is.

This hotels biggest attraction is their free-form swimming pool with a bar/restaurant right in the middle. You just can't miss it as it encompasses a large area of the hotel property. This is a great place to sun if you don't feel like putting up with the crowds at Pattaya beach. The hotel claims that their pool is so big that it can contain 2000 guests. They just might be right.

This is a great hotel to stay in especially if you have kids or a large family. The Green Park Resort's rooms are big and spacious, especially the family suites.

Sunshine Vista Serviced Apartment in Pattaya Review

Rates starting at 1350THB ($39 USD) per night includes taxes and breakfast.

Sunshine Vista Serviced ApartmentDon't worry about the word serviced apartment. You basically get the same service and hospitality of a full scale hotel. One of my buddies stayed here for 2 months, so he got a deal through the hotel. So when I went to visit him I also took a good look at the property.

Overall everything looks a bit outdated, from the furniture in the room to the facilities. But everything is still kept well in order and in good shape. There are a lot of people staying because it's in a very good location, close to nightlife action at a very good budget hotel rate.

Sunshine Vista Serviced ApartmentThere is a pool on top of the roof with a really nice view of the bay and the city below. Don't bother eating inside the hotel restaurants. There are plenty of places to eat outside. The executive studio my friend stayed in was spacious and didn't have much amenities. Still a very comfortable place I have to say.

Tim Boutique Hotel in Pattaya Review

Rates start at 1800THB ($52 USD) per night includes taxes and breakfast.

Tim Boutique Hotel

Tim Boutique Hotel in Pattaya is a vey nice hotel choice. The rooms are quite big and comfortable. I see a lot of families here I guess because there aren't too many kid friendly hotels in Pattaya.

Tim Boutique Hotel Pattaya in Pattaya offers its guests 42 rooms ranging from well maintained and sublime suites, superior as well as deluxe rooms. All these rooms are spacious enough to comfort its guests. The décor of these rooms reflect the traditional touch blending with modern sophistication. Each category of room and suite has its own uniqueness and facilities according to the tastes and demands of the guests.

The room facilities are extensive. Their air-conditioned rooms are fitted with, color television, telephone, fridge, in-room movies, security safe, security key guard, tea or coffee making facilities and a mini bar. Certain rooms have bathtubs as well as a stand in shower.

It seems like there is no shortage of great pools and Tim's certainly has one of the nice ones. But do look out, since it's kid friendly, there will be a lot of kids.

This hotel is located next to a lot of the nightlife action yet it's still pretty quiet, a major plus. I highly recommend this hotel for nice rooms and a good price.

Check out the roof top sun deck too while you're there. I highly recommend it.

Royal Orchid Resort Hotel in Pattaya Review

Rates starting at 1500THB ($43 USD) per night includes taxes and breakfast.

Royall Orchid Resort Hotel

I thoroughloy enjoyed my stay at the Royal Orchid Resort. Their studio rooms are modern with a touch of classic Thai style. The surrounding hotel property is very tropical with Pattaya beach just 5 minutes away. For some reason this part of Pattaya beach is particularly cleaner to me.

The guest rooms are a nice blend of contemporary Asian decor and modern conveniences. I was amazed with the amenities for the rates they charge. In the rooms are flat screen LCD television, internet access, in room electronic safe and a mini bar if you ever use them.

Normally I don't recommend people eating inside a hotel when you can find so many local restaurants outside. But the aroma in their restaurant just drove me nuts. Try any of their Thai dishes. You won't regret it. There is a sports bar for all of you sports fanatics and it's tastefully decorated. The bar lounge has a very relaxing atmosphere. Take advantage of the low season as the rates for high season is much more.

After a hectic day of sightseeing or work, you can rejuvenate your senses at the pool or move to the outdoor Jacuzzi at Royal Orchid Resort in Pattaya. For extra indulgence try out their traditional Thai massages. Personally I always go outside of resorts and hotels for massages because it's cheaper. But one of my friends told me to try them out, which I did. Since then I've always gone back to them, because their staff are great!

Amari Orchid Resort and Tower in Pattaya Review

Rates starting at 2399THB ($69) USD per night includes taxes and breakfast.

Amari Orchid Resort and TowerI can't shut up enough about how beautiful this hotel is. And at 2399THB you can't go wrong. Last I checked this is a promotional price and will end in April 2009. I firmly believe that the Amari hotel group has to be one of the best. No matter which Amari hotel I stay in, whether in Bangkok, Phuket and in this case, Pattaya, I am always equally impressed with their service to their guest as well as the way they maintain their hotels.

If you're the type that likes to be pampered and be treated like royalty then you have to stay at this hotel. Words cannot describe the amenities and facilities you have access to in this hotel.

I usually book the superior rooms but once in awhile I will indulge myself by springing for the deluxe room. Either way, you can't go wrong. The pools, fitness center and on premise bars and lounge is fantastic.

There are a lot of options for recreation in the Amari Orchid Hotel at Pattaya. You can enjoy strolling by the beach or you can opt for a game of tennis. You can also enjoy a dip with your friends in the new huge lap pool.

You will have a wonderful experience in the lovely ambiance of Amari Orchid Hotel.

Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel in Pattaya Review

Rates start at 2200THB ($62 USD) per night includes taxes and breakfast.

Pattaya Discovery Beach HotelPattaya Discovery Beach Hotel Pattaya is a 4 star hotel located near Pattaya Bay. This is another really nice hotel that I enjoy staying most of the time whenever I'm in Pattaya. It's close to Walking Street, the center of all activity in Pattaya.

The rooms at Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel Pattaya are cozy and well appointed. It even has some really excellent facilities like their pool and fitness center. The room amenities at Pattaya Discovery Hotel Pattaya include air conditioner, electric card key, IDD telephone, satellite TV, internet access, MP 3 CD player (in Superior suites), bath tub and shower, telephone in bathroom, bath robe/ slippers, hair dryer, mini bar and tea/coffee maker.

Out of all the Pattaya hotels I recommend here, this is the most kid friendly. There is a playground for children, game room for children and a shallow swimming pool for children. The spa and fitness center inside the hotel is top notch and a great place for parents and couples. The dining services at Pattaya Discovery Hotel offer all day dining, but as I always recommend, its best to eat outside and support the smaller local restaurant businesses. Though you should still check out their lobby bar and lounge, very cool area to enjoy drinks. All in all this is a great hotel and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here like I always do.

A-One Royal Cruise Hotel

Don't let the funny name A-One Royal Cruise Hotel fool you into thinking this is just some gimmick to lure tourist.

From museums to amusement parks to even verdant botanical gardens, this place has everything to attract tourists from all over the world. Restaurants, bars, night clubs, cocktail lounges, discotheques and cabarets are also found in every nook and corner of the city that the A-One Royal Cruise Hotel is near.

Ravindra Resort and Spa in Pattaya Review

Rates start at 3200THB ($91 USD) per night includes taxes and breakfast.

Ravindra Resort and Spa
This is a relatively new hotel and when I started staying I noticed a lot of the staff were inexperienced. But for me it's not a problem because the rooms are new and very nice. If you're looking for a more secluded location and don't want to feel crowded with hotel guest then go ahead and book a villa. I've never personally been in one but from what I could see it's like a small modern bungalow. Maybe someday I will try it out and let everyone know how it's like.

Altogether, 277 rooms and suites are available in the resort. Interestingly, the guestrooms and suites are made in low-rise colonial style. Rooms are here categorized as superior room, deluxe room, 1 bedroom suite and 1/2 bedrooms pool villa. Though filled with modern amenities the hotel still retains a lot of Thai class and style.

Various modern amenities are available in the rooms. It includes satellite television, DVD player, IDD facilities, Wi-Fi internet connection, electronic safe, minibar, hair dryer and many more cool stuff.

The facilities and services at Ravindra Beach Resort & Spa are amazing too especially their beautiful large swimming pool. Now this is the place you should bring your girlfriend or wife to if you really want to impress her. Jomtien Beach is just a five minute walk away. If you want to get to the center of activity such as Walking Street you'll have to take a taxi. The ride you should take about 10 to 15 minutes at most.

Siam Bayview Hotel in Pattaya Review

Rates starting at 3200THB ($92 USD) per night inlcudes taxes and breakfast.

Siam Bayview HotelSiam Bayview Hotel is one of the most popular hotels in Pattaya for a nice relaxing stay. Though you are literally quite in the heart of the action, the hotel property is still quiet enough for their guests. This is the hotel I always recommend to my friends who could avoid it. Never once have I ever heard any of them make complaints and believe me my friends are complainers.

The location of this hotel is ideal for exploring the city as everything is nearby. Plus having the beach not too far away is a great as well. However, I'm not really a big fan of Pattaya Beach, mainly because to me it's not that clean and it's crowded.

This is a pretty big hotel with a lot of varieties of room types. The rooms ensure you complete privacy and a relaxed getaway experience. In room facilities at Siam Bayview Hotel include individually controlled air conditioner, satellite television, in room movies, work desk, hair dryer, wake up calls, daily housekeeping, private bathroom, iron, refrigerator, safe, and of course the telephone that people rarely use.

You can start a healthy day at their fitness center which I found was well equipped when I visited. The hotel also features 2 outdoor swimming pools, Jacuzzi s and tennis courts that people barely use..
