The most frustrating thing about chronic pain is how illusive it may be. It just exists, without necessarily any rhyme or reason. Great Lens, thank you for sharing with us here on Squidoo!

I do some Lower Back Pain Exercises for my back pain and it eases my pain.

Unfortunately I also know from personal experience how horrible chronic pain is. My doctor says the only way to help me is going to be hip replacement surgery.
I know that this operation is nowhere that complex like yours, but i`m still afraid of it.

This is a very good lens, thank you for giving all of the patients that otherwise wouldn't be heard a voice by bringing attention to this invisible illness. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who is in pain and suffering.

This is truly a great read and review about spinal decompression. It gave me a good knowledge about it. Good job!

I forgot to mention, when I went to see my doctor to complain about the nausea and vomiting that I was experiencing as a result of taking my pain medication, and he recommended (pause for effect) Marijuana! He told me that it would act as an effective anti emetic so the medication would not make me sick to the point of vomiting and mitigate the pain as well. I was so shocked to hear this white haired doctor suggesting marijuana! I dont know, maybe it does help. Any other chronic pain patients tried this? If so, how did it work for you?

I have been a chronic pain sufferer from a very young age. I was born with a birth defect in my feet; nothing visibly noticeable to the human eye but I think most people can tell by the way I walk. I have deformities in both my left and right Achilles tendons, they are not able to extend the way they should and are too short. I had experimental surgery done when I was 13 to lengthen the tendons because the way it was making me walk/run was damaging my heels and creating pain from my feet all the way up my spine throughout my back and neck. The surgery did not go well, I was in casts on both legs for nearly two months, and after about a year of physical therapy it was suggested that I undergo another surgery to add artificial plastic implants to my heels to help mitigate the damage that was being done to my body because of the way I was forced to walk. I was vehemently against this surgery and after months of fighting with my parents over it they finally let me make the final decision not to have it done. I have been on pain medication ever since, and now that I am older and have had the chance to do my own research I am planning on having another surgery in about 6 months that should correct this problem by 75%. Needless to say, I feel your pain, literally. It is hard for people who don't have chronic pain to understand that we arent always being mean, rude, or short with them just because we are mad or in a bad mood, it is because we are in pain and it just comes out through our emotions like that. I wish you the best of luck with your spinal problem, no one should have to suffer for their entire life.

I totally agree with your lens that not all could see the debilitating pain that you are suffering, unless otherwise you let them know. We learn to live with our pain to a point that we develop high tolerance which has its advantages and disadvantages. Although I suffer from chronic pain in my lower back, it is not near enough to what you are going through. I could just imagine the pain suffered by those who underwent metal on metal hip replacement surgery which went wrong and eventually prompted the DePuy hip replacement recall.

    Thanks,

Chronic pain from a spinal surgery can be tough. I've experienced a disability myself from my hip replacement surgery, a few years back. Now I'm concerned after learning about the DePuy Pinnacle Lawsuit and how the implants are failing in just a few years after surgery.

I too am a chronic pain sufferer and totally agree this is a much misunderstood problem. People do not know how much it hurts and that it is so exhausting at times. This is why I help businesswomen with CP through my coaching business http://elainelockard.com . A liitle compassion and understanding goes a long way.
