Class Act Baseball All-Star: Paul Molitor

Paul Leo Molitor is a Hall of Fame and former All-Star baseball player. He played 21 seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers, Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins. He played his first 15 years of Major League Baseball with the Brewers but didn't win a World Series championship till 1993 with the Blue Jays. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004.

A Look at Paul Molitor 

Paul Loe Molitor was drafted by the St Louis Cardinals in the 28th round of the 1974 free agent draft as a pitcher. Rather then playing for the Cardinals he opted to attend the University of Minnesota. While he was attending the University he played 3 years of baseball for the Golden Gophers.

In 1977 Paul was selected 3rd in the free agent by the Milwaukee Brewers. In 1978 Paul got his chance to play in the Majors. He played shortstop and 2nd base while batting leadoff for the brewers. That year he posted a .273 batting average while stealing 30 bases and scoring 73 runs. His performance helped him earn the nickname of The Ignitor.

Paul Molitor was part of the Milwaukee Brewer team in 1982 that would eventually make it to the World Series. The Brewers lost the series to the St Louis Cardinals in 7 games. Though they did not win, Paul did his part to help his team by hitting .355 during the series and set a record by getting 5 hits in game 1. Though he didn't win the World Series with the Brewers, Paul would later Help the Toronto Blue Jays win their second World Series in 1993. Paul won MVP of the 1993 World Series by hitting .500 which tied a record.

During his career Paul Molitor was voted to the All-Star game 7 times and won 4 Silver Slugger awards. His number (4) was retired by the Milwaukee Brewers in 1999. Paul was elected in the the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004.
