Paypal Limited Account FAQ

Did Paypal limit your account for no reason? Or maybe they accused you of something you were not guilty of? Either way, they suck. This lens is meant to help answer some of the most commonly asked questions I receive regarding Paypal account limitation and how to fix it.

If you can't resolve your account limitation (which is probably the case, Paypal are not the most cooperative lot) and you need more detailed instructions on how to create a new account, I highly suggest you read my lens that walks you through the process of setting up a 100% new Paypal account.

It's important that you read it fully and follow the steps EXACTLY, or I guarantee that Paypal will link your new account with the info in your limited account, and immediately freeze your new one.

If you run into any trouble along the way or need to ask a specific question that is not answered in this lens or my other ones, please feel free to contact me via email.

Will Paypal track my IP address and block my new account if I use the same computer?

In my experience, it shouldn't matter much if you are using the same IP address to create your new account. However, as a precaution, I suggest using Google Chrome when creating and logging into your new Paypal account, since you can use the "Incognito" feature to browse the web anonymously.

Can I use the same phone number for my new Paypal account?

No, you should not use the same phone number when creating a new account. You want to use all new information, so that Paypal does not link your new account with your other limited account. To obtain a new phone number, sign up for Google Voice and request a new number.

Can I use the same address for my new Paypal account?

No, you should try not to use the same address when creating a fresh account. I realize this presents a problem for eBay sellers who need to use their shipping address, etc. If at all possible, use the address of a friend or family member when signing up for a new Paypal account.

Is it safe to link my new Paypal account with my existing eBay account?

Although I am not 100% certain on this one, I believe it should work to unlink your limited Paypal account from eBay, and then link your new account once you have successfully verified it.

Once your Paypal account is permanently limited, you CANNOT cancel, edit or remove your account information on file with Paypal.

Creating a new account with the same info will result in instant limitation of your new account!

Use a previous address or a friend's address.

When you sign up for your new Paypal account, use the address of a close-by relative or friend, if possible. Otherwise, use an old address where you lived before you began using Paypal and before your old account was limited.

Order a free prepaid debit card.

You need to order a free prepaid debit card from a site like Netspend. I recommend choosing them because if you sign up through my referral link, they will give us both a $20.00 credit to our accounts once you load your card for the first time (with at least $40.00).
