Helped a lot in setting my paypal account. Thanks.

I love PayPal, I use it for all my credit card transactions. Credit Card machines are old news and many times require a 1 - 2 year contract. It is recognized around the world and they do a good job with their security features. Right now I am only talking about the free services. I recommend PayPal to all small business owners. Good Lens, Thanks.

even if you have a bank account and do not do any biz online, Paypal offers benefits like moneymarket accounts, high daily limits on charges and atm withdrawls etc... It is worth it to look at this as an online addition. For instance you can take a pic of a check, create a deposit and Papal will do it without you having to send them the paper. Just get the paypal app for iPhone or Android and an appropriate Paypal account of course.
  • nuntana Jun 9, 2011 @ 10:34 pm | delete

If a business owner is considering using paypal, they would be smart to first look into a traditional merchant account. While paypal has a much lower overhead and upfront costs, business owners that are preparing to do more than approximately $400 per month are almost always going to save significant money by using a merchant account. In addition small business owners have far more protections against things like chargebacks with a merchant account rather than paypal.

The last time I checked, the country information in your profile can not be changed. So if there is a possibility pf relocation choose your email accounts linked to the Paypal account carefully. I recently canceled my Paypal account and the balance - a few cents in my case - was allocated to a charity fund.

Paypal is brilliant. I have relatives abroad and it's the easiest way to sent and receive money with them. You just fill in the form at Paypal and give the email address of then person you want to send the money to, and whether in Sterling or the local currency, and it all happens automatically.

I love paypal! My girlfriends and I go on an annual trip together each year. We use paypal to save up for it. Each month we each send a few dollars to our paypal account we have linked to a special bank account. When it's time for our trip it's almost completely paid for! Makes it so easy to all chip in for the cost. We get statements from paypal on balances and everything!

Very nice and simple for the beginners. So often how-to type items are not written for people who don't know what to do, but for people who basically do. I like that you included the phishing information because that throws a ton of people off. You might tell them to forward them to Paypal by using spoof @ paypal.com which they tell me helps them and I stopped getting them years ago after I started reporting them. The other thing they told me is that if PayPal sends you anything, they always use the full name you have on the account, the phishing emails are typically addressed to Dear PayPal Customer (a good reason to use a middle initial when you set up your account because even spammers who have your name would probably not use that).

You did a great job ~ thumbs up from me! :)

Hi, a friend sells things on ebay and pay-pal is a pain in the a_ _! They don't pay until the item is acknowledged as being received. Buyers get stuff and say they didn't get it and then you have to prove it! She has been taken several times. Then they put a hold on payments. I'd rather send certified funds to a mailing address than go through pay-pal!
  • kiwisoutback Feb 22, 2010 @ 9:23 am | delete
With PayPal you get the payment as soon as the buyer sends payment. If you use delivery confirmation, you should have evidence that the item is shipped, however, you should purchase insurance if the item is of high worth (it's free if you ship with UPS up to $100). As long as you have documentation that the item has been shipped, you should be able to win any PayPal dispute.

so i am trying to order something off of a site, the first time i used pay pal and the trasaction went through.. now i am trying to use the same site but not working, my pay pal says i have to add my debit card number.. but i already have my credit card on there.. why do i need both, im not paying off my debit!!!! please help!!!
  • kiwisoutback Feb 18, 2010 @ 11:34 am | delete
Did you change the payment options? You should be able to change the funding source for each transaction. By default, PayPal will take from the cash in your PayPal balance first, and your primary funding source first. Change the funding to your credit card instead - you may have to do this every time you pay for something.

One of our clients is using PayPal standard to accept credit cards from her online store. However when checking out PayPal requires the customer to sign up for a PayPal account or pay only via PayPal. Other client's of ours has their settings with PayPal set up so that when "checking out" it goes directly to the check out page on PayPal's Virtual Terminal for the customer to enter their credit card information.
Does anyone know how to set up PayPal to accept credit card payments directly from the online store?

    Thanks

If you're just using the PayPal for Squidoo, you can set up a personal account. You're automatically going to get royalties for affiliate sales by using the amazon, ebay, and cafepress modules on Squidoo. Any other affiliate accounts you'll need to set up yourself through CJ, Linkshare, etc. You can find out more about those affiliate programs here:

As with any online purchase, there can be a risk. Even by funding a purchase with your CC, the buyer can file a chargeback. If you're in the service industry, having the buyer sign a contract (or signature confirmation if it is an actual item) upon delivery of the item is the best way to go to ensure that this doesn't happen.
  • Adarsh_money Jun 8, 2009 @ 12:07 pm | delete
Thank you for the information. however Paypal is not safe for transactions like services or domain transfer. If the buyer claims they did not get the service/ domain then sure it is going to be a bumpy ride for the seller as mostly the buyer wins. In such cases I advice you to use escrow dns. thanks for the Phishing warning
  • Treasures-By-Brenda Jun 8, 2009 @ 6:15 am | delete
    Excellent lens, blessed by Brenda.
I like the way you've set out the facts. Are you going to include Paypal's other methods of payment as Paypal is never going to be the only way to pay on eBay?

There's also a plugin you can use to create a one-time use card for purchases to protect your identity and card info. PayPal does make it easy for both an online seller, like me and as a buyer, like me.

Very good article on Paypal and the prevention measures. It is quite important that everyone aware of the new tactic used to attempt to get your information.

In fact, there are many fraud cases happened daily and the latest one is sending you email to inform that your account has being limited access. I have wrote the review on this latest paypal fraud tactic and thoughts of sharing with you and your readers. Hope you like it.
