PC Gaming Vs. Console Gaming
Ranked #1,139 in Games, #35,475 overall
Best Gaming Platforms To Satisfy Your Most Exigent Gaming Needs!
PC gaming has its advantages over console gaming, mostly because pretty much all game genre can be played, but with console gaming, the fear of running low on system specs simply vanishes. On the other hand, a more fine control of movement and aiming is achieved in a PC gaming environment.
So the real battle is between spec disabilities versus control disability.
With a PC you can better aim with your mouse than you could ever hope with a console game pad. But with a console you don't have to fear about minimum system requirements for a game, since the only specification you would run across is the type of console itself.
PC Gaming
In the case of FPS or TPS games, aiming and movement is a lot smoother since you can fine tune your mouse sensitivity and pinpoint any pixel in the gaming arena. Plus keyboards offer a wider level of flexibility having so many buttons at hand, you'll never run out of options, or keyboard binds.
But with a monopoly on RTS and TBS games, along with all the other genres, PCs do have their advantages over consoles.
Gaming Desktops
With one eye on the current hardware that comes out and one eye on the system requirements games have, PC gaming on desktops tends to be a constant battle of staying ahead of current system hardware demands.
But that is not the case if you own a future-proof machine. That means taking any system requirements the best game today has, and doubling that amount to create your gaming rig. This way you'll be all set for the next 2-3 years in terms of specs.
Gaming desktops are the best at what they do, mostly due to their size, they can pack up a lot of tech inside them, but they can be a drag when it comes to monthly electricity bills. Yes, they do use a lot of electricity, but when gaming performance matters, that is just a tiny detail within the gaming scope.

Gaming Laptops
Gaming laptops are the portable side of PC gaming. Even though they are not the lightest machines, these portable machines are at the very top of system performance in the whole laptop world.
Yes, they're heavy, but boy do they pack a punch! A laptop that's designed for games can be taken to LAN parties if you don't intend to drag along a huge desktop with you. You can use it to do pretty much anything from video editing to graphic design and still there will be no glitches.
Even though they are a hassle to upgrade, their portability surely makes up for it.

Console Gaming
Loved by many, consoles are the gaming machines designed with just one thing in mind, and that is purely gaming. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and like their PC counterparts, some of them are fixed, meaning you'll most likely set them with a TV and play watching your game on the screen, and some are portable, so you can take your favorite games with you anywhere you go.
They have come a long way since their early start, but one of their advantage is knowing you never have to worry about upgrades, since games that are designed for consoles can be run by consoles, whereas games designed for PCs can or cannot be run depending on the PCs internal hardware.
One downside from a PC gamers point of view would be the limited options a game pad has to offer or the sloppy control the lack of a mouse and keyboard can bring. But manufacturers have taken this into account and created several options where you can include PC peripherals to your favorite gaming console.
PlayStation 3
The PlayStation 3 is a popular gaming console which doesn't shy out on the spec side.
It has it's very own Blu-Ray disc player and stereoscopic 3D capabilities so you can fully immerse yourself and enjoy the a new dimension to your gaming environment.
Plus it even allows you to stream HD content and listen to your favorite tunes from the comfort of your couch.

Gaming on PCs or Consoles?

PC Gaming
datakrunch says:
PC all the way. The graphics card in a PC can be upgraded. A console cannot. Also, head shots are way easier with a mouse than with my thumbs.
PipPipHooray says:
definitely PC! Always have been. I've been lucky though cause my fella builds his own PC's so we always have the best systems to play the newest games. Worth it for sure!
Lifeboost says:
Well, I wouldn't try and convince anyone else lol - it's down to personal preference of course. I love my PC, and when I used to play games, I found the PC much nicer than consoles.
emmalarkins says:
I could just never figure out all the buttons on the console controllers :( Also, my preferred type of game is RTS like StarCraft, which works better on PC!
Console Gaming
blackspanielgallery says:
I like something large to view.
zarometro says:
console gaming for me! :D
Iain84 says:
PS3 for me all the way thank! I use my laptop for work and occasionally for some gaming but it's much easier to just pick up my controller, lay back and turn up the sound!
starlitparlit says:
I prefer console gaming probably because I've played games on consoles my whole life. It's just easier for me.
kinworm says:
I prefer console gaming because everytime my step-sons used our PC for their games it ended up ruining them - funnily enough once we banned PC gaming and they got consoles, we've never had another serious PC problem. Good luck with the tier 1 challenge!

- From a personal view, I reckon the influence into which device a person uses is based on which they are introduced first. So , it would not be surprising that your 30+ crowd would be PC centric and those under 30 would be console based.
