Developer Tips
- Planning on a large website? Think about making it database-driven. Visit this page for more information on database-driven websites.
- Use CSS for formatting and HTML for content. Read a tutorial for creating identical tables from HTML to CSS by clicking here.
- Websites should use descriptive URLs for their files. Descriptive URLs better your chance of ranking high in search engines.
- When programming, make sure to indent your code appropriately. This keeps your code clean and easy to read.
- Programmers should make sure to comment code that may be cryptic or hard to indentify for future referencing.
- Plan before action. Always plan and thoroughly think of what you are designing or coding before you begin, as a house is blueprinted before being built.
- When designing a website, do not use popups. People hate popups. Try using "popunders" instead if you must.
- As a webdesigner, be sure to validate your website. You can validate your website's coding at http://validator.w3.org
- Adaptability is crucial. Ensure your website functions in all major browsers and try to make your site's width adjustable.
