Creating PDF Files the Easy Way

Whether it's your business, personal or maybe your educational work: actually sharing your documents can still be quite an obstacle in this modern digital age. More and more applications are being created for us, to create all kinds of fancy documents. But most software companies apparently don't care about the existence of other software programs, leaving you and me with a bunch of applications which can't open each other's files. Annoying and frustrating as hell, especially when it comes to digitally sharing your work with other people!

Now as you might already know, AdobeĀ® came up with a nice solution called PDF Files: it has become a great universal document format openable by basically anyone on any system… From Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and yes even to modern mobile phones (just discovered that my Samsung mobile phone can open them). OK great: a universal format,.. but then a new problem arises: how to create these PDF files yourself?

Searching Google for a solution you'll come across a bunch of sites trying to up sell you all kinds of fancy PDF related stuff for as much as $449! Anyway, it might be just me, but I doubt the average computer user is willing to pay a bunch of money for a computer program with a lot of buttons and settings, where even a computer geek would frown upon. A close friend of mine working as a teacher laughed at me when I told him I had been messing around with this same problem for weeks now. He took a small piece of paper and wrote down the name of some program most of the teachers at his school were using and told me I'd probably slap myself in the face for wasting a few frustrating weeks. There's a saying "a picture tells more than a thousand words"...:

I got myself a 2year license and was pretty amazed by the power and simplicity of the software: just like their site explains, you can convert almost any of your existing documents to a pdf file inĀ  a few clicks. Just right click the document you want to convert, select "Create PDF File", and a small window will pop-up. Here you can simply choose to save your file and you'll be prompted to select where you want to save your new pdf file. And that's it, it will convert your existing document to a new PDF file in a blink of an eye. (By the way, don't worry: it won't touch, change or delete your existing document.)

You can find and download this nifty tool to create your own PDF Files at: www.mypdfcreator.com.

Happy PDF'ing!

How to Merge or Combine multiple Documents!

Last week I was trying to add an excel spreadsheet to a word document, but somehow the lay-out got all messed up every time I tried adding the spreadsheet. The work had to be uploaded to our company's website, so I was planning on publishing the work as a PDF File anyway. That's when I discovered that you can also combine or merge multiple documents together into one single PDF file!

Now the real advantage here lies in the possibility to combine different documents of different formats! Excel spreadsheets, photos, images, Word documents, etc..: you can join and publish them all together, again in just a few simple mouse clicks. Add the documents you want to combine to a list, simply change the order in which your documents should be merged together with some arrow buttons and hit a large 'combine all' button. And that's it; your different documents will be merged into a single new PDF File. My co-workers are still wondering how I pulled this trick :-)!
