The Best-Selling Hybrid Tea Rose of All Time
The Peace rose is a beautiful rose with a fascinating history. It was developed by the French horticulturist Francis Meilland in the late 1930's and originally named 'Madame Antoine Meilland' after his mother. When Meilland foresaw the German invasion of France he sent cuttings to his friends in Italy, Turkey, Germany, and the United States to protect the new rose.
The adoption of the trade name "Peace" was publicly announced in the United States on April 29, 1945. This was the day that Berlin fell, officially considered the end of the Second World War in Europe. Later that year, Peace roses were given to each of the delegations at the inaugural meeting of the United Nations in San Francisco, CA accompanied by a note that read: "We hope the 'peace' rose will influence men's thoughts for everlasting world peace." This gorgeous and beloved rose has been called "The World's Favorite Rose" and "The Rose of the Century". In my opinion, no rose garden is complete without this lovely & historic hybrid tea rose.

A Classic Beauty
This magnificent rose is an all-time favorite and award winner - and you can see why: glorious creamy lemon yellow blooms with rosy pink edges and a sweet fragrance. As the flowers age they deepen in color adding to the depth and interest of this fine hybrid tea rose.The Peace rose was awarded the prestigious All-American Rose Selections Award (AARS) for 1946, the only rose to receive that honor that year. Since then, Peace has won numerous other rose awards. I recently read that the two best-selling rose varieties of all time are "Peace" and "Mister Lincoln" hybrid tea roses. I wholeheartedly agree that those two are "musts" in my rose gardens. They are as popular today as when they were introduced.

The Chicago Peace Rose
'Chicago Peace' is an offspring of the famous 'Peace' rose, that was discovered by a grower living in Chicago. With 'Chicago Peace', the pink edging is richer, brighter and deeper. The reverse is an intense coppery gold. This is a stunning rose with large blooms. The color of the blooms varies according to the weather and the season.'Chicago Peace' loves the heat, but also thrives when it's cool outside, and is also hardy down to USDA Zone 5. Flowering time is late spring / early summer, with periodic rebloom.
This is a beautiful member of the Peace family - I saw this variety planted in mass at one of our local botanic gardens in the Chicago area and it was a breathtaking site!
The Love and Peace Rose
Here's another gorgeous offspring of the legendary "Peace". "Love & Peace" will mesmerize rose enthusiasts with its light fruity scent and colorful look. Characterized by spiral formed blooms of breath-taking golden yellow edged flowers with pink. Each flower has a minimum petal count of 40, surrounded by dark green glossy foliage.This classic upright, disease-resistant, hybrid tea grows to 4-5 feet by 3 feet. Love & Peace is perfect for framing a formal rose garden or creating a striking feature within a landscape. I haven't added this rose to my garden yet, but I've heard rave reviews from people who are growing it. "Love & Peace" is known for being hardy and a steady bloomer throughout the season. Lasting Peace Rose
This contemporary relative of the famous 'Peace' rose is characterized by its double "hot coral" colored flowers. A real show stopper! This variety was introduced in France in 1996.Lasting Peace is also a hybrid tea rose with a strong upright, bushy habit with stems lined with sharp woody thorns. The shiny, leathery, deep olive green leaves are a nice contrast. This rose was bred to be disease resistant and blooms from early summer through frost, with proper care and maintenance.

The Climbing Peace Rose
The best-selling rose of all time is available in climbing form! The Climbing Peace Rose features creamy yellow petals, sweetly perfumed, with a blush of pale pink edging. This climber is extremely vigorous--climbs quickly! Looks great climbing up a trellis, fence or other support in your garden.The Climbing Peace Rose flowers all season long and is disease resistant and hardy. I've heard they can start out slowly the first year, but hang in there, it's worth the wait. Subsequent years this climber really takes off - growing 8 - 10 feet tall. A striking beauty!

Follow These Tips For Healthy, Vibrant Roses

Plant in a Sunny Location (Most roses need 6 hours of direct sunlight per day)
Make Sure Your Rose Bed Gets Adequate Drainage (Roses don't like to sit in a pool of water)
Follow the Recommended Spacing Requirements (Roses like their space and don't want to be overcrowded)
Keep Your Rose Garden Clean (Pick up loose petals and other debris - this will help prevent disease and pests)
Mulch Around the Plants to Prevent Weeds (Just leave a few inches mulch-free near the root ball to avoid rotting)
Remember to Water on a Regular Schedule (if Mother Nature doesn't cooperate, give your roses approx. an inch of water a week by hose at the base)
