Peach Cobbler - Easy Summer Dessert
Ranked #8,570 in Food & Cooking, #155,900 overall
Homemade Cobbler Using Fresh Peaches
Try this cobbler with all kinds of fresh berries, rhubarb or even a mix. Be sure to choose fully-ripe fruits and prepare them ahead, as described in the recipe below.
By the time summer is in full swing, peaches are in season and there's something about their juicy sweetness and tang that makes a wonderful dessert to eat warm from the oven, at room temperature, or cold. (I'll have mine just a little warm.)
Add some vanilla ice cream, too!

Peach Cobbler Recipe
Easier Than Pie To Make and Enjoy
- Serves: 6 to 8
- Prep Time: 30 minutes
- Total Time: 90 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 quart prepared fruit (about 4 large peaches
- peeled and sliced)
- ¼ c. creamed butter
- ½ c. white sugar (plus ¼ c. extra)
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 t. baking powder
- ¼ t. salt
- ½ c. milk
Instructions
Using fresh peaches, first prepare the fruit. Peel and slice them, and place in a bowl. Add the 1/4 cup extra sugar, and set aside so that juice can form. If you are using frozen fruit, thaw it ahead of time.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Butter a 1 1/2 quart casserole. Set aside.
Cream the butter and sugar in a medium bowl. Separately, mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and salt). Measure out the milk. Alternately add the dry mixture and the milk to the creamed mixture, beating lightly after each addition.
This will make a thick batter. Be careful not to overmix, as this will make the cobbler tough. This mixture is similar to muffin batter.
Spread the batter in the bottom of the baking dish. Pour fruit on top, and dot with butter.
Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour. As it bakes, the batter will rise up through the fruit.

- Yum, peaches are naturally sweet and fresh baked cobbler is great for those winter days with some hot tea. I'd love to try some cherry or strawberry cobbler next.
