The Pearl Harbour Movie - Love, Action And True Friendship - All In One
The Pearl Harbour Movie is a great and unique love story, mixed with half an hour of fast paced and astonishing action with a fair amount of excellent special effects, which makes it a great way to show off your HD television if you invest in the Pearl Harbour Movie in Blu-ray.
Two best buddy airmen, played by Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett are fighting for the same womans affection, a nurse played by Kate Beckinsale. Without giving too much away, fate has it that they both end up with her at different times in the storyline, and it seems like it's all falling apart during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. This is where the movie takes a quick detour from Chick Flick to Action in an abrupt and amazing fashion.
This movie makes you feel like as if you were there, during one of the most horrific days of American military history. The buddies must, of course, work together to save their friends, put their feelings aside and in doing so come to an understanding with eachother, before they both have to leave the girl they love to carry on the revenge attack on Japan.
In the end this is a very touching, thought out storyline that needs to be watched to be appreciated. OK, so it has a couple of side stories that may seem forced, but overall, the cast makes it a great watch and the story is excellent. Pearl Harbour in Blu-ray is an excellent experience, both where sound and picture is concerned.
The Pearl Harbour Movie was directed by Michael Bay, who is also behind movies like Transformers, Island, The Rock and Armageddon.

The Pearl Harbour Story - What Really Happened?
The Pearl Harbor movie is giving an account of the events of Sunday December 7, 1941, when the Imperial Japanese Navy launched an attack on the U.S., using aircraft and midget submarines.Previously there had been hectic activity from the Japanese, transmitting coded messages, which were also picked up by American intelligence. The Americans had managed to decipher Japan's code earlier on, so they were aware of an imminent attack before it actually took place. However, because they had some difficulties deciphering intercepted messages, they didn't know the exact target of Japan's strike until after the attack took place.
Under the command of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the attack dealt a devastating blow to the U.S., both in terms of loss of life and damage to the Pacific fleet.
At 06:05 on December 7, the first wave of 183 planes, composed mainly of dive bombers, horizontal bombers and fighters was launched by the six Japanese carriers. They hit American ships and military installations at 07:51, attacking the military airfields of Ford Island. About 40 minutes later, at 08:30, the second wave of 170 Japanese planes, mostly torpedo bombers, attacked the Pacific fleet anchored in Pearl Harbor.
The battleship Arizona was blown apart when it was hit with an armor piercing bomb, which penetrated the forward ammunition compartment, causing the ship to sink in a matter of seconds. In total, nine ships of the U.S. fleet were sunk and 21 ships were severely damaged. Of the 21, three were damaged beyond repair.
The overall death toll reached 2,350, of which 68 were civilians, and 1,178 suffered injuries. 1,177 of the military personnel lost at Pearl Harbor were on board the Arizona.
The first U.S. shots fired in WWII were from the destroyer Ward. The target was a midget submarine that had surfaced outside of Pearl Harbor. Ward successfully sank the midget sub at approximately 06:55, just under an hour before the assault on Pearl Harbor.

- The movie has some great action sequences, but is somewhat lacking from a historical perspective unfortunately. Nevertheless, it's a movie that is well worth watching.

- Pearl Harbour was attacked on a Sunday morning. The number of soldiers on duty was minimal. A majority of offices at the naval base were shut.
