Pecan Pie vs. Pumpkin Pie - Which is better?
Pecan Pie is a better choice than Pumpkin Pie for the Holidays!
Pecan pie has nuts and therefore provides fiber to your diet. Pecans give pecan pie a more palatable texture than pumpkin pie.
Pecan pie and pumpkin pie will be found at most Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Having to choose which pie to eat is a formidable task for some. Many will choose both. Others have definite opinions about which is the best. What is your choice?

Oh, what a delicious choice to be asked to make. If I can't have a slice of both, I'm leaning toward the pecan pie.

I do like pumpkin pie (sweet potato is even better), but since I have yet to attend a Thanksgiving where pecan pie is available, I gotta go with that. I crave more of something I don't have that often. :D

Downunder the holidays don't fall during pumpkin season, so it is easier to pick, otherwise I would say get both!

As I said in my comments, your lens made me correct a false assumption. I assumed that pumpkin pie was lower in carbs and usually got it because of that fact. When I checked Caloriewise, Pecan pie only has one more carb than pumpkin. I'm going for the Pecan pie next time.

I like Pecan better because of the taste! Let's face it, by the time you add sugar and flour to nuts or pumpkin which is a squash, you have pretty much neutralized any food value and are into the realm of indulgence, which is ok in my book!

Being a Brit, I have tried neither (gasp!) but pecan definitely looks better to me. To us, pumpkins and other squashes are savoury foods! We we eat them roasted, mashed and in soups.

I gotta go with pecan here. There is nothing better than pecan pie and coffee. mmm mmm good! Sure it's sweet, it's supposed to be, it's pie! :) Now I love a good pumpkin pie, or better yet, sweet potato pie, but pecan is where it's at people.

Pumpkin Pie Rules!
Evelyn_Saenz says:
I completely disagree. Though Pecan Pie is tasty and has a variety of textures, it is not as educational. From counting the seeds to slicing the wedges, pumpkin pie is nearly a math curriculum in itself. Pecan Pie is merely delicious.

My husband loves Pecan Pie but I really don't care for it. I don't know why since I do love Pecans. Not really too fond of Pumpkin Pie either but would prefer it over Pecan. Actually, I would love some Chocolate Cream Pie, please.

I love pumpkin pie more, but I add pecans to mine so I get the best of both worlds. :)

I like pecans, but my pick for pie is pumpkin pie. Especially pumpkin pie that is topped with pecan strudel!

Pumpkin... but then I really don't like nuts or fruit pie...so I am biased... I'd much rather have coconut cream pie with a graham cracker crust...mmmm heaven.

Pumpkin is the best. I love pecans but the pies are always too sweet. We have blood sugar issues.

Pumpkin-Pecan Pie
This Pie May End The Debate
If pecan pie is too sweet and pumpkin pie is too bland, this pumpkin-pecan pie will likely settle the debate. The pumpkin in the custard lessens the sweetness found in pecan pie. The pecans add to the texture and flavor of the pumpkin. It's the best of both worlds. I baked this pie for Thanksgiving and it was a huge favorite. Try it for yourself. - I typically make two kinds of pie for Thanksgiving (pecan and pumpkin). Makes it easy to choose. And yes, I'll take a slice of each. :-) Diets are not in effect on Thanksgiving Day.

- Growing up in Vermont I have never had Pecan Pie made from scratch let alone had it for a holiday meal. After reading this lens, however, I would be willing to try.

- Great topic and lens. The lens make me question an assumption I had, that pumpkin pie is lower in carbohydrates and therefore healthier. Comparing Mrs. Smith's Pecan Pie and Mrs. Smith's Pumpkin pie, Pecan pie has only 1 carb more .. not much.
