Kids are often difficult to administer nebulizers too. Having a plan to keep their interest is very important to keep them in place during their nebulizer treatment. Making nebulizer time as fun as possible has worked great for us. When it is time for a nebulizer, our child gets to play with a special toy and watch a movie that is only available while having a nebulizer treatment. Although we do not like our child watching videos normally, we do let him watch videos while having a nebulizer treatment. The special toy is a nebulizer character machine and the movie has the character (or a character closely matching the nebulizer character) in it. The result is a 2 year old child that looks forward to his treatments! One of the most important things is that the toy and movie are only available during treatments, that way the child looks forward to the time and he or she does not get bored with the movie or nebulizer treatment. If the child does not like wearing the mask, then the nebulizer can be administered by blow by. It does take a few tries to get the method to work, however we found it was the easiest way to get our child to sit still for his treatments.
