Why Install a Pedigrid ® ?

Unlike Pedimat ® roll-up entrance mats, Pedigrids ® are rigid grids that do not roll up. Instead, they are manufactured into sections for easy installation and maintenance. Some customers prefer Pedigrids ® due to their rigidness, durability, and style. Different depths are available for different applications, ranging from 1-11/16" to 4-3/16". All Pedigrids ® are custom made and are available in a variety of insert and frame options.

Here a Pedigrid ® section has been removed to show the how the grid is installed in the recess. A popular framing option is the Recessed Level Base Frame which is imbedded into the concrete recess to protect the grid and the border (tile, marble, etc.) from chipping.

Over time dirt, ice melter, and sediments accumulate on your Pedigrids ® and also collect in the recess. We recommend your Pedigrids ® are cleaned annually to sustain your grid's performance and life span.

Another mat should never be placed on top of a Pedimat ®, Pedigrid ® or Peditred ®. Use of rubber/vinyl backed rental mats not only prevents the heavy-duty carpet inserts from scraping dirt and debris off shoes, but also covers up the holes in the aluminum mat preventing dirt and soil from being collected in the recess. Mats can be placed before or after a Pedimat ®, Pedigrid ® or Peditred ® but never on an aluminum mat.

Two of the four mat sections have been removed to show the accumulated dirt and ice melter in the recess. Pedigrid ® recesses need to be cleaned on a regular basis to maintain cleaning/wiping performance. The depth of the grids are 1-11/16 of an inch allowing for more dirt to be trapped.
After the old carpet inserts are removed, the aluminum grid channels need to be cleaned with a chisel to ensure the new carpet replacement inserts slide in smoothly.
Once the aluminum rails are cleaned, new carpet replacement inserts are slid in place and secured with a rivet on both ends. New carpet insert material can be purchased from www.ronick.com
