Pedimat ® Entrance Matting

Most Pedimat ® entrances are square or rectangular, but custom irregular-shaped sizes are occasionally needed. This picture shows a Pedimat ® next to a revolving door. A secure fit can be easily done by measuring every 2-4 inches for circular shapes. Some shapes may require a template which the factory uses for an exact fit.

The majority of people walking into your building never stop and scrape/wipe their feet; instead, they keep on walking. It would be ideal to have an entrance mat 10+ feet long to ensure soil and snow are removed before they are tracked into your building. Some office buildings and retail have limited vestibule space and may need mats that go beyond the entrance way for maximum effectiveness.

LEED requirements are incorporated into many new construction "green" buildings. There are several LEED credits for entrance matting that can be applied for Pedimats ®.

MR Credit 4.1, Recycled Content
The sum of post-consumer recycled content plus one-half of the post-industrial concent consitutes at least 4% of the total value of materials in the project. Pedimats ® are 30% post consumer and 46% post industrial. Different inserts such as recycled rubber can increase your recycled content.

MR Credit 6, Rapidly Renewable Material
The total value of the building material must be made with 2.5% rapidly renewable materials. Usually the materials are comprised of plants harvested within a ten-year cycle or shorter. Bamboo and cork Pedimat Inserts will add to this LEED credit.

IEQ Credit 4.3, Low-Emmitting Materials
Low VOCs (Volatile Organic Compunds) are required for man made products that contain significant vapor pressures. Many of our product line-up meets this LEED requirement.

IEQ 5, Pollutant Source Control
One of the most popular requirements is the installation of a permanent entrance system greater than 10 feet in all major entrances of the building. The idea is to reduce the amount of pollutants and outdoor air from being tracked into the building.

Architects and business owners are always trying to create contemporary entrances that "pop" and stand out. Through the use of exotic tiles, carpeting, and recycled materials entrances can make a huge impression. To make these materials last they specify a durable permanent entrance system for stopping the dirt at the door. Pedimats ® are capable of supporting 300 lbs. per wheel on rolling loads. This is sufficent for most applications, but other entrances require heavier duty mats for deliveries in high-traffic areas. Pedigrids ® have a 400 lb. weight load capacity per wheel and also have a deeper recess for more dirt and soil collection. Our heaviest duty mats are PediTreds ® which support up to 1,000 lbs. per wheel load. A PediTred ® mat is ideal for use in car dealerships, and areas which require equipment to be moved in and out of a building.

Pedimats ® are very easy to clean. Just roll up the mat from one end and sweep underneath to remove accumulated dirt/ice melter. The punch-out slots in the mat allow debris and dirt to collect in the recess area.

For cleaning we recommend using an all surface floor scrubber called a Duplex ®. The Duplex can scrub, rinse, and dry in a single pass and is ideal for cleaning high traffic areas that are prone to dirt retention. Cleaning should continue until the extracted water is clear to insure all the dirt is removed.
