Welcome! So nice of you to drop by Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. Come and celebrate the timeless romance of the Maritimes: listen to the call of sea birds as they sore overhead; bathe in the refreshing ocean breezes. Peggy's Cove is a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality.
The village may have been named after the wife of an early settler or taken its name from St. Margaret's Bay as it marks the eastern beginning of the Bay and Peggy is a nickname for Margaret. Two versions of the popular legend claim that the name came from the sole survivor of a shipwreck at Halibut Rock near the cove. The young shipwreck survivor married a resident of the cove and became known as "Peggy of the Cove". Residents from around the bay eventually named the village, Peggy's Cove, after her nickname.

Operated by the Canadian Coast Guard the current Lighthouse is approxiamtely 50' tall and was built in 1914. The original Lighthouse
at Peggy's Cove was built in 1868.

- My family and I emigrated to Nova Scotia from the UK in 2006 and Peggy's Cove was one of the most talked about places by our neighbours. We visited and were blown away by the scenery. It's a place to go not only as a tourist, but as a local. You can sit peacefully on the rocks and watch the world go by or visit the fantastic restaurant and local shops.
