Timeless Tours & Travel - Upcoming Trips
Please Read this letter from Jean Vegod about some Day Trips coming up!
Hi, Everyone!
I have great orchestra seats for the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes at the Fox Theatre for Dec. 5th and am very excited about both the show and our luncheon venue. We will be eating at the elegant Georgian Terrace across the street from the theater. It has been recently rennovated and should be fabulous! I always love the show, no matter how many times I see it! They always change it a little to freshen it up a bit, and the scene at the end always makes me teary! We are asking for a deposit for this show because it is a bit "pricey," and I have already paid for the tickets. The cost for the trip is $129. If you would like to go with us, a $65 deposit will be due June 1st, with the balance due Nov. 2nd. I think this will be fun and will get us all revved up for the holidays!
I am also working on a trip for next year to Switzerland, Austria, and Bavaria, culminating in the Passion Play in Oberammergau. This play only occurs every ten years, as you probably know, and 2010 is the time for it. If you think you might be interested in going, I have brochures that will give you all the details and would be happy to get it to you.
Hope you are all well and hope to see you soon!

Heritage Walking Trail Dedication - October 3, 2009
Project of Pendleton Pride In Motion

Dedication of the Heritage Walking Trail
Oct 3, 2009
A collaboration between the non profit and the Clemson University Department of Public Health, the trail will encourage walking while telling a story about the rich cultural heritage of the town.
The initial phase to be opened on Saturday will be called the blue trail and will take walkers from the square down historic Queen Street, turning onto North Elm Street , and turning again on North Main Street. The trail then returns to the square completing a 1.5 mile loop. Later plans include stretching stations as well as additional trails to link Tri County Tech with Veterans Park. In the Spring, student from the Clemson program will help develop a trail to the Keese Barn historic site, as well as the Old Silver Springs Church and other important African American sites in the Pendleton community.
Clemson Professor Sarah Griffin worked with her students in public health promotion to obtain $2,000 in grant money to have signs cast for the trail. The signage is coordinated with Anderson County's historic signage at the Pendleton Library and other sites. For more information on the trail or to volunteer for health improvement projects in the Pendleton area , please contact

New Business Opens Pendleton SC - Colonial Square Antique Mall
Are you interested in leasing space in the new Antique Mall?
We are concentrating on antiques, vintage furniture, collectibles, and other similar goods, but are certainly open to a wider variety than a traditional antique mall. For example, we have one dealer committed who does custom painted tiles, and another who hopes to come weekly to sell organic baked goods. So, in short, we are looking for a variety of dealers. While we have already received commitments from dealers both in Pendleton and the surrounding area, we have a good bit of space left and need a few more dealers in order to feel comfortable opening. As of right now (assuming the few remaining pieces fall into place) we are planning a September 1st opening, with a grand opening event the weekend following. We will be signing up dealers up until about a week or so before opening, then stopping to finish the details, and any remaining space will be available several weeks after opening after we have settled down a bit. While I hate to pressure anyone, at present time is of the essence in order to meet our deadline, complete the lease, and capitalize on so much of what already takes place in and around Pendleton in the Fall. For those interested, here are the details about renting a space:
-100 sq. ft. spaces (larger available) to display and sell goods
-$1 per month, per sq. ft., plus 10% commission
-rent and commission covers both the space, advertising, and handling all sales, submission of taxes, and outside marketing
-includes access to website and assistance listing items for sale (for sample of what website will entail, see www.southmainstreetantiques.com, the website for our current store which I designed and maintain)
-discounts for dealers on furniture refinishing
-delivery free of charge to dealers

Pendleton Boy Scout Troop 94 Need Leaders
Can you help?
There are many different roles a leader can fulfill depending on the type of unit. Positions are usually voluntary and are often divided between 'uniform' and 'support' roles
Uniformed Scout Leaders are primarily responsible for organizing the activities of the group, and training the youth members through the Scout program. Other roles include liaison with parents, districts, or other parties such as the unit's sponsoring organization.
Some support roles are not always termed Scout Leaders; although they may assist with activities and training, they do not always hold a formal position and may not have received training. Beyond the Scout program, these supporters may take responsibility for administrative tasks such as budgets, managing properties, recruitment, equipment, transport, and many other roles.
Anyone interested can contact me Jennifer Hellams, Troop 94 Committee Chair at Troop94@charter.net. You must be at least 18 years old and would need to fill out an Adult Registration Application. Everyone that is registered with Scouts will have a background check done by the Blue Ridge Council.

Palmetto Bank Raises Money For Pendleton Community Center
Palmetto Bank has always been an important part of the Pendleton so it was no surprise when they wanted to do something to help the Pendleton Community Center after their the recent vandalism. Debbie Sloan of Palmetto Bank organized a "Used Book Sale" and with the help of all of the bank employees, they were able to raise $530 for the center. Debbie Sloan said that the Pendleton residents as well as others were very generous with donating their used books and they had no problems selling them in the bank and at Spring Jubilee. On April 21, 2009 Debbie Sloan of Palmetto Bank presented Denise Jackson of Pendleton Community Center with a check in the amount of $530. Denise was very appreciative of the donation and efforts of Palmetto Bank and said that this money would be used to buy paint and painting supplies for the center. Denise said that they would begin the painting soon. According to Denise, they will eventually need to replace the carpet that was also vandalized.
Further donations to the Pendleton Community Center may be mailed to The Pendleton Community Center, Inc. 305 West Queen Street PO Box 427 Pendleton SC 29670.

She served as president in Seneca 1985-86, 1986-87 and 1996-97 and as treasurer from 1999-2005. She also served as S.C. district governor in 1995-96.
Seawright is very active in her community as well. She works with Meals on Wheels in Anderson County scheduling drivers, finding substitute drivers, locating people who are applying for meals and even driving a 25-mile route herself two days a month serving 20 to 25 people.
The Pilot Club of Seneca held a luncheon for Seawright at Liberty Hall Inn in Pendleton in September to present her with her award. The Club also made a $25 donation to Pilot International Foundation in her honor.

Thank you Clemson University Students for all your great help with Fall Festival!
