Growing Up In Pendleton SC Lenses
This is a directory for the Pendleton Memories Series. I hope you will visit each one because they are so different and offer much in learning about Days Gone By.
I started this series as a way for certain folks to post their memories on the web and preserve them. These fine people and I hope that if you grew up in Pendleton South Carolina, you will want to join us and we welcome you with open arms.
I think this might make a great Coffee Table Book for local residents. What do you think?
Betsy Johnson, Curator for Pendleton District Commission, shared these words:
These memories are a precious resource that can provide a picture of our town for future generations. With the permission of the writers, hard copies of the Pendleton Memories Series will be donated to the Pendleton District Commission's Local History Archives. The Pendleton District Commission will preserve these stories and make them available for those wishing to learn more about our town.
The mission of the Pendleton District Commission is to collect, preserve and promote the rich history of Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties and to promote economic development through tourism in the region. For more information, please visit our web site: Pendleton District Commission Website
If you are new to Squidoo, this is a scroll down web page so read and scroll until you can't scroll anymore! Thank you!

The first in the series was the memories of Eugenia Sims Hunt from the 1950's and 60's
Better known around here as Jeanie Sims
Jeanie is an accomplished writer and her memories are what spurred this project on.
Our second Pendleton Memories was done by Pendleton Town Council Woman - Sandra Gantt
This is also a study in Black History in the South in the 1960's
Third In The Memory Series Is From Nell Seawright Reeves - 1920's
Nell is 95 years old
Do You Write Down Your Memories?
Here are some helpful guides from Amazon for recording your personal history
Recording your memories for future generations is a wonderful gift to leave your children and grandchildren. The only thing it takes is time so we have to make it happen.
If you enjoy reading about Pendleton Memories,

- You know, I was thinking something before I clicked on this lens -- coffee table book! And, what do I read in the intro paragraph -- just that! Great minds think alike -- you should DO it! Seriously. That would be a great project to write about and do another lens. Look at the contributors you would have who are already Squidoo lensmasters!
