About Pendleton Pride In Motion

What is Pendleton Pride In Motion?

PPIM in Pendleton SC

PPIM 501c3 was formed in the Spring of 2004 as a community outreach organization. We meet monthly and have a committee structure of Communication and Advocacy; Beautification; Community Progress and Smart Growth; and Health, Education and Social Services.

PPIM's Board and members are active in the community promoting awareness and involvement in a multitude of areas.

In 2005, Pendleton Pride In Motion sponsored the building of Barrett's Place Playground which was built by Community Volunteers with money raised by Community Volunteers with purchased, donated or borrowed equipment and materials. It was an amazing Community Wide Effort that everyone was proud to be a part of.

PPIM is proud that it was the founding sponsorship of Friends of the Park and although PPIM is no longer the sponsoring organization, we are extremely interested in it's purpose and progress.

PPIM continues to sponsor the Student of the Month Program at Pendleton High School which culminates in a $1,000 scholarship.

PPIM's latest effort is to create a series of Health and Heritage Walking Trails with designated way-finding markers. This effort was in coordination with Clemson University Creative Inquiry Program and introduced at Spring Jubilee 2009.

The organization takes pride in being at the forefront of issues impacting the Health of Pendleton. The term Health is used not to suggest an absence of disease, but improvement in the overall quality of life.

According to our by-laws, the business of Pendleton Pride In Motion will be managed by an executive committee consisting of at least seven members. The executive committee will be made up of athe representative of each standing committee and at least three persons elected at large.

Pendleton Pride In Motion Presents Bi-Lo with The First Ever Community Spirit Award

Thank you, Julia and everyone at Bi-Lo

PPIM presents Julia Frazier of Bi-Lo with the Community Spirit AwardPress Release
For Immediate Release
Pendleton Pride In Motion Presents Community Spirit Award to Bi-Lo

Scott Ward, Chairman of Pendleton Pride In Motion, presented the first ever Community Spirit Award to the Pendleton Bi-Lo Store Manager Julia Frazier on July 19, 2011. This award recognizes Bi-Lo's efforts in making Pendleton a "healthier" community by enhancing the quality of life for all citizens through its support of community activities. PPIM also recognized Julia, as manager, in leading the way. This award was instituted as a way to show their importance to the Pendleton Community.

The Pendleton Bi-Lo serves as a "hub" of Pendleton life serving civic and church groups alike. The generosity of the Pendleton Bi-Lo's many activities including donations to SOUP (Supper On Us Pendleton) and concessions at Freedom Fest plus graciously allowing community-based groups to be represented at your storefront has not gone unnoticed.

PPIM Board Members, Mary Jo Craig, Nancy Hellams, Tom Vegod and Powell Hickman were at the presentation along with Greg and Denise Bauld who represented the office of Senator Lindsey Graham. Senator Graham sent a letter which expressed his appreciation to Julia and Bi-Lo for their community service.

Ms. Frazier was thrilled with the award and accepted it with her Bi-Lo team in attendance. She said, "I am just doing what Bi-Lo has told me to do and that is to give back to the community." Ms. Frazier went on to say that when she took the job in Pendleton, she was told how wonderful the people of the community were and she said that she found that to be very true. She said, "Our team treats the store like they would their homes and they welcome everyone who enters our door as they would any guest."

Simply cut out the Enrollment Card shown below and take it to any BI-LO and have them scan it the next time you buy groceries. Extra Enrollment Cards are available on tables at both exits from the sanctuary, so get your other family members and neighbors to participate. They do not have to be a member of PUMC.
