All About Pendulum Dowsing Charts

If you've started to learn the art of using the pendulum, then you will might have come across pendulum charts, and you're actually on the lookout for some great charts to practice your new pendulum skills.

Ig you haven't heard of these charts before, let me briefly explain what they are.

One of the easiest ways to learn dowsing using a pendulum is by reading dowsing charts. I found that they have a sort of a structure that many people can follow much easier than trying to learn simply by feel.

There are some charts for pendulum available free and some for purchase, and most people once they've learned to use the pendulum with a chart, they are hooked and searching for that ultimate chart that is still missing from their collection. No wonder, since I have quite a few printed out as well, and I use them depending on what type of questions I want answers to.

This article discusses the uses of pendulum charts and how to use your pendulum with them, where to find some great free places for some awesome charts, and if it's not enough, then places to buy even more. Also if you are craft-inclined, you have tips on creating your own as well. A true collector can never have enough charts!

Shown here is a multipurpose pendulum chart that you can use for several types of questions, including the popular Yes/No question, with message, alphabet and numbers.

Dowsing Pendulums And The Need For Dowsing Charts

dowsing pendulum

What is dowsing?
Dowsing is generally searching for something (I'm sure you've heard about dowsing for water, oil or gas). This the more serious aspect of it, which uses dowsing rods (2 L-shaped metal wire rods) instead of a pendulum.

So what is a pendulum?

Even if you've never used a dowsing pendulum before, you've seen some in new age shops or at least on the TV. A pendulum is usually a pointed crystal (or gemstone) with a cord or silver chain attached to it. You hold it between your fingers (there is a right way to do it) and without moving you ask your question. You can use a pendulum chart or not.

Some people like to use charts, others like to simply follow the movement of the pendulum to get their answers. But answers to what?

A dowsing pendulum can give you answers to pretty much anything you want - or don't want. From the most serious questions related to career, relationships or your spiritual path, to mundane issues such as having lost your keys or your piece of jewelry, the pendulum will answer you, usually with the right answer.

I like using pendulum charts because you can get some extremely accurate answers using them. I usually get much better answers when I use a dowsing chart than when I use the pendulum without it.

And let's face it, using pendulum charts is just way too much fun and many people consider dowsing with charts much easier.

Shown here is a gorgeous dowsing pendulum which has the 7 main stones for each chakra:

Red jasper (Root Chakra), Orange Aventurine (Sacral Chakra), Golden Quartz or Yellow Aventurine (Solar Plexus), Green Aventurine or Green Mica (Heart Chakra), Sodalite (Throat Chakra), Lapis Lazuli (Third Eye), & Amethyst (Crown Chakra).

It even has a pouch to carry and store your pendulum.

I have this book and I consider it one of the best on learning the art of dowsing with a pendulum. Except for teaching you how to properly hold your pendulum in your hands (with clear drawings), it also has several great pendulum charts that you can use right away.

The Yes/No/Maybe chart if of course included, along with a chart for percentages that can also be used for temperatures or 'top 100', a world map chart for dowsing for water, astrology charts that is truly great if you are also into astrology - note that each star sign has its own dowsing chart.

So if you are looking for a great way to enhance your pendulum skills as well as get some more neat charts, this book comes highly recommended!

Did you know that the use of a pendulum (especially in Europe) is considered a science under the name of Radiesthesia?

Doctors sometimes use them in diagnosing various illnesses and finding allergies.

My First Experience With Dowsing

dowsing rod

My first experience with dowsing was not with a pendulum, but with a dowsing rod and it involved a plumber.

We are living on the first floor of the apartment building, and a couple of years ago we noticed that the walls above the garage were wet downstairs. As we were living right above, we realized that the problem is coming from our own apartment, but we had no idea where the water leak was coming from. From the bathroom, or the kitchen, or the other small bathroom at the end of the floor?

One way to go about it was to simply start breaking the floor (poor tiles!) and just go on until we find the leak. But then a friend of us told us about a plumber with 'a magic hand'. He could find the water within a matter of minutes, and we didn't even need to break any floor tiles, at least not until we knew exactly where the leak was!

So we called this guy and next day he came over. He took from his bag an L shaped thicker wire (a very thin rod actually) and he started walking holding the rod very loosely in his hand.

It was so weird! The rod didn't move at all until at some point when the top L shape started to turn towards a particular direction. Every time the plumber walked towards that direction, the rod turned on its own. He did the test about 5 times just to be sure (afterall it was not his floor to break) and at some point he said he knew exactly where the water was leaking.

He said "See where the top end of the rod points to"? This is exactly where we have to break the tiles to fix the pipes.

And he was right. In less than 2 hours we had everything down and the leak fixed. All we needed now was to put back the tiles.

And yes, his dowsing rod was accurate almost to an inch precision. Talk about being more than impressed! I was hooked and this is when I've first learned about dowsing and realized that there is more to it than just searching for water.

Can I Make My Own Pendulum Chart?

draw your pendulum chart

Sure you can. I've actually made a few charts myself when I couldn't find something suitable either free or even for purchase. They're not difficult to make, and there are some great video tutorials that you can also follow along.

But here are a few pointers to keep in mind if you want to make your own pendulum dowsing chart.

* First have your question in your mind.
* Think of all the possible outcomes for that question.
* Take a regular sheet of paper and draw a circle (or half-circle, depending on the questions) in landscape position. Then take a ruler and draw lines at equal distances so that you have place for every answer that you want as possibility on your board.

Important!

If you find the paper to be too flimsy, you can even glue it to a larger piece of cardboard and use it as such for your pendulum dowsing.

Another great book on using the pendulum and the pendulum charts by Dale W. Olson. An essential book of many charts on all sorts of questions you might want to ask. This is the new edition of the book with 50 charts for you to enjoy and use.

How To Use A Pendulum Chart

how to use a pendulum chart

Each pendulum chart will be used according to the type of question you have, but the basics are simple and always the same.

You hold the pendulum with your hand in the right position above the chart (on the position where all the options meet, usually in the center of the chart), and once you feel you are ready and set, simply ask your question.

You will soon notice that your pendulum starts to swing on its own in a particular direction, and the swing or rotation eventually becomes much stronger.

So how do you know where to look for the answer?

When the tip (edge) of the pendulum doesn't go any further and it seems to be pulled into a particular direction or a particular spot, this is where the answer lies. Simply read the answer on your board or chart to know what the pendulum has said.

For example I find that if I am asking for a Yes/No question, my pendulum never rotates, it always swings from left to right.

It goes into using it in everyday life, for healing, for spiritual growth and enhancing psychic abilities, and it also goes into advanced stuff that you will be ready to tackle once you've read the first part of the book. A good starter book which I also have in my personal collection.

Other Dowsing Tools

While dowsing with a pendulum and a pendulum chart is probably the most popular way of finding the answer to whatever you want to know (or find), there are several other dowsing tools that are worth mentioning, if nothing else, at least as a point of interest.

The Y rod

The Y rod is basically a forked wooden stick made of apple wood. This has been used for centuries to find water. Some people also use willow instead of apple wood.

Using this stick is different from a dowsing rod because it has only two positions: a search position and a here position.

The Bobber

A bobber is used by dowsers looking for oil and water mostly. You can use a fishing pole which you simply hold from the tip. You can also use wood for it, but it's not that common as a fishing rod.

L Rods

I think this is what the plumber who helped us find the water leak in our apartment was using, because it was very thin. It must have been a coat hanger wire. However I can personally vouch for it, as it works 100% accurately!

Here are included some of the dowsing tools that I mentioned just above. If you are curious about dowsing and its history, this is a great book to read.

"Peasants have believed in dowsing, and scientists used to believe that dowsing was only a belief of peasants. Now there are so many scientists who believe in dowsing that the suspicion comes to me that it may only be a myth after all."
