Much of Western Civilization is derived from the works of the ancient Greeks and Romans, so a foundation in the Classics is essential not only for its direct benefits, but to fully understand the modern classics which often refer to them.

Amazon apparently has NOT done away with this collection without even the courtesy of leaving the page live for "used & new" sellers -- but the pagehas been AWOL for some time. The Penguin "Complete Greeks and Romans Collection" -- an Amazon exclusive -- disappeared from the Amazon.com site, leading me to conclude that it had been discontinued, as I have equivocally stated elsewhere. Apparently, I made the mistake of assuming a conspiracy where simple incompetence would suffice. In any case, the item seems to be back, but I'm still going to make a back-up copy of Amazon's partial listing of the included titles.
