Thanks to movies like March of the Peguins and Happy Feet, Peguins are enjoying more popularity than ever before.
Plus, they are absolutely adorable.
African Black Footed Penguins up close and personal
This video footage is unedited, but for penguin enthusiasts it will be worth my bad camera work. The Newport Aquarium in Newport KY (right outside Cincinnati, OH) has a program for "Penguin Encounters" 20 minutes in a room with 3 black footed penguins. Not only do you get to see the birds up close, you also get to pet them. Here's the video from our entire encounter.

Penguins need your help!
Unfortunately for penguins, the earth's temperatures are rising at an alarming rate and the ice at the polar caps is melting. In Antarctica, home to the famous Emperor Penguin, the annual melting season has been extended by as much as 3 weeks in recent decades.
