Pentagram History
For me, part of the fascination with the many religiousSymbols is the meaning behind them and their history.
So...here is the information on the Pentagram.
The Pentagram is a 5 point star and is drawn using 5 lines.
Basically it's a star Pentagon. They were used in Ancient
Greece and Babylonia often associated with those who
Practiced magic.
The Pentagram is also associated with Christianity, the
5 points representing the 5 wounds Christ received at his
Crucifixion.
It's also associated with freemasonry and other religions.
Basically..the 5 point star has been around religion for
A very...very long time, no matter what your beliefs..
Wicca, Pagan, Occult, Christianity, Freemasonry, Satanism..
The pentagram, or a version thereof has likely seen it's
Day in your history.
The star has also made it's debut in politics, on money,
Astrology, and in many other places.
Handfasting

It's interesting to note that while Handfasting is most commonly used as a traditional Wiccan wedding ceremony, it is also used for a *group marriage* of more than two people, same sex marriages etc. A high priest or priestess officiates the ceremonies.
The term *Handfasting* comes from the tradition of the bride and groom crossing their arms and joining hands, effectively creating a figure 8 with their arms, otherwise known As the infinity symbol.
Handfasting rituals may include the tying of the couples hands together with a cord.
Some couples may opt to tie hands just for the ceremony while others till the marriage is consummated.
The Rose Ceremony: Where the couples first gifts to each other is a single rose because the rose is a symbol of love and means "I love you". This is typically done
At the end of the ceremony before the couple is announced as husband and wife.
Other rituals may include:
The blessing of the hands
The jumping of the broom
The wreath ceremony and more.
For more complete information on these rituals and others check out this site here:
Handfasting rituals
Another unique aspect of handfasting verses the traditional Christian wedding is that while some look to handfasting for a lifelong bond, others may use it for *A year and a day* for instance and at that time re-evaluate the relationship.

The idea behind the Celtic knot is that they are endless, you can't determine where they started or where they end. It's that basic meaning that makes this knot perfect for religion, weddings etc. These knots were being created in the times of the
Ancient Celts, before the Christianizing of the
Celtic speaking lands. At different points in history
That included different countries in the European/Britain neck of the woods.
Their use ranged from decoration and ornamentation to
Christian monuments and manuscripts.
Many of the knots, or knot types (Circle, Triangle etc) have meanings behind them.
The Triangle, is known as the Trinity or the Triquetra Knot. The meaning behind the word Triquetra is *Three cornered*. Depending on your beliefs those three corners
Represent different things. Christians believe them to represent the Father,
Son and Holy spirit. Pagans believe them to represent the mother, crone
And maiden. Another variation still is mind body and spirit.
