Understanding Perfect Pitch and How it Relates to our Brain

People who can easily recognize a musical note at an instant even without the need on relying on a certain reference material are often referred to as people with perfect pitch. Those people with this ability do not only identify a certain note easily, but also has the ability to sing or even reproduce these notes as well without the need of any guidance at all. Some experts say that this ability is something that is natural, but is very rare to find.

According to some experts, perfect pitch or otherwise known as absolute pitch most likely occurs in one in every ten thousand individuals. And because of this fact, many people continue to believe that this ability is something that can only be inherited and pass on through our genes. This is actually a misconception because just like any ability or skill, perfect pitch or absolute pitch can be learned and be developed through engaging in a proper training.

One might probably ask what the logic behind this conclusion is. Well, to give an example, when it comes to various images, people can still identify what major colors it has even if there are many other colors present isn't it? Also, when it comes to cooking, it is also possible to know what type of herbs or spices have been added to the other ingredients through the sense of taste. So that basically explains it, as you can see our senses have the ability to distinguish and know the difference and the sense of hearing is definitely not an exemption.

And because of this conclusion that perfect pitch can be learned, it is quite inevitable that we put some connection between perfect pitch and the development of the human brain. Based in some research conducted all over the world, the human brain plays an important role in this ability. To prove this fact, a certain research made in Australia revealed that people with perfect pitch were found to have a larger region on the left side of their brain than those people who do not possess this ability. The difference is found to be almost double in value. This might just indicate that some mental effort is needed in order to have this ability.

Additionally, if a person is interested in learning how to achieve a perfect pitch, self-confidence will definitely play an important role because those people with doubt that can really achieve this ability often results to failure. Confidence is really important in perfect pitch training and if you undergo the training without it, there is a great possibility that you will not succeed.

So if you are interested in having this kind of ability, do not lose hope because there are ways to develop it. All it takes is a proper training as well as the confidence that you can do it.
