Permanent eyebrows intro

Do you have very little eyebrows and don't know what to do about it? Are you considering permanent eyebrows? Here are a few things you should know before getting an eyebrow tattoo: you should know exactly who's doing them for you and WHY you want to do them, because permanent eyebrows are ... well, permanent!

Why get permanent eyebrows?

Eyebrow tattooAs you will see I'm not a really strong supporter of permanent eyebrows. That mostly has to do with the fact that two of my friends have an eyebrow tattoo and it doesn't look too good. Want to know why? Honestly, styles change through years, right? And was fashionable 10 years ago is out of date now, so the eyebrow shapes they have are basically old-fashioned and will be even more so in 20 years. What is the only reason I would support permanent eyebrows? If you have absolutely no eyebrows left on your face. And even then, my dear ladies, I would strongly suggest you go with semi permanent eyebrows. The eyebrow tattoo can be done with a life time dyes or with semi permanent colours - go for the semi permanent.

What are permanent eyebrows?

Permanent makeupPermanent eyebrows are essentially eyebrow tattoos, you do realize that, don't you? That means tattoo dye will be injected a bit under the surface of your skin, where it will leave permanent marks - meaning the colour. The process itself is not really painful, depending on your pain level, but usually the pins are so thin and precise you'd feel only pinching. So, permanent eyebrows are done in a salon, you should choose a really good makeup artist - check the section on what to mind when choosing one. Permanent eyebrows can be done with different colours, but my suggestion is to go with the most neutral possible - check out the eyebrow colours appropriate for different faces here. Eyebrow tattoo is permanent and will stay with you for life - the shape you choose, the colour you get - forever. Think hard, there might be other options.

I would rather recommend...

... that you try any of the more natural and not so lasting options such as these:

I think that you should be able to find the right stencil for your face, take an eyebrow pencil and some eyebrow powder and make your eyebrows appear perfect every day. After these two, if you have any eyebrow hair left, use some eyebrow gel gel to fixate it, and it will look wonderful! Check how to determine the eyebrow shapes right here!

Semi permanent eyebrows

Semi permanent eyebrows differ from permanent in the tattoo dye. Semi permanent dye will wear off in time - it's not cut that much into the skin and the dye is less invasive. This is a great method for the new-comers with no eyebrows , the risk of not having a beautifully shaped permanent eyebrows for life is diminished because it will sooner or later wear off. Semi permanent eyebrows are usually also of lighter colour, which means that the change will be lessened. My suggestion, if you really NEED permanent eyebrows, is to get semi permanent eyebrows for the beginning - you'll also get the chance to see if your makeup artist is worthy of your trust.

Before semi permanent eyebrows...

... a piece of advice:

Again, before considering semi permanent eyebrows, please try the following: find the right eyebrow stencil for your face, take an eyebrow pencil and some eyebrow powder and make your eyebrows appear perfect every day. After these two, if you have any eyebrow hair left, use some eyebrow gel gel to fixate it, and it will look wonderful! Check how to determine the eyebrow shapes right here!

How to choose a makeup artist for permanent eyebrows?

Makeup artist for permanent eyebrowsNot everybody should be good enough to do your permanent eyebrows. Ask around, ask people you know where they got their tattoos, choose a got parlour that will be worth the money. Honestly, let's see what can go wrong in making permanent eyebrows:

-        Your skin can react to the dye.
-        It might hurt if the makeup artist isn't trained and skilled enough.
-        The shape of your eyebrow tattoo might be all wrong.
-        The colour of your eyebrow tattoo might be all wrong.
And remember, you can't go back and take it off! My strongest piece of advice is not to go to a tattoo parlour but a beauty salon where they have a lot of experience making permanent eyebrows. The second thing you might want to do is check the eyebrows of the person who's making yours - that will give you a pretty good idea of what they consider looks nice on a face - maybe you better turn around and run. You're getting permanent eyebrows not a hair dye which can be reversed!

Id def spend hours after going back and forth if I made the right decision or not...so only because Im indecisive I say never :)

KimGiancaterino says:

I would probably regret a permanent solution.

Tolovaj says:

No way! (Until I change my mind)

LcArt23 says:

I don't think I would, like you say styles are always changing and I like to try and keep up so. Even semi-permanent eyebrows wouldn't work for me as I would want another look after a day or so :)

cffutah says:

gotta pass as a dude. dude's aren't supposed to be too pretty.

Of course, I'm already thinking about it!

AlleyCatLane says:

I am thinking about it. You gave a lot of good advice. Thanks.

Very good advice for those us contemplating getting it done.

A friend of mine had tattooed brows and they did eventually fade. I have mine dyed and also rely on brow products. I'm blonde and my brows are practically invisible.

Not a big fan of 'permanent solutions' myself. I think too many people rush into something they will regret in a year or two. You made great presentation with this lens and I also like semi permanent option.
