Declaring My Business Setting Goals for 2012

We have reached that time of year where we should be beginning to think about setting some personal goals for the coming year. Today I am announcing a personal Squidoo Goal to make more money from my lenses for 2012. Setting goals is important for all of us to do and letting other people know about those goals should make one try harder to achieve them. I started this goal setting in 2010, continued it for 2011, and now am setting goals for 2012. I'll keep you posted on the progress for 2012.

Follow along as I explain what my goal setting plans are and how I will attempt to reach my goal.

Squidoo Goal For 2012

Making Money From Lenses

Since money doesn't grow on trees, I need to set a goal for myself for making additional money here on Squidoo. In 2010, I was able to double my earnings from the previous year. During 2011, I worked hard to maintain those earnings and actually doubled my earnings again. However, those earnings still are not where I would like them to be.

So, my goal for 2012 is to double that income again. I would like to create enough new lenses to have my total count be at 350 by the end of 2012. I believe if I work hard and promote the articles that are on my dashboard I should be able to reach my goals.

First Personal Squidoo Goal

My first personal Squidoo goal to make more money and raise my monthly average will be to create more lenses. I plan to make no less than 2 lenses a week for the next 52 weeks. Which means that I should have 350 lenses by the end of December 2012. I will record my progress every couple of weeks to show how I'm doing.

Business Goal For Amazon

In order to raise that daily average of money making here on Squidoo, I'll need to do a better job with my affiliate sales on Amazon. Reading this book by Seth Godin, one of the original founders of Squidoo, should help with this business goal.

Setting Goals For More Traffic

Another way to boost that daily income total is to make a conscious effort to try to get more traffic to my lenses. There are a few ways for me to go about this task.

Researching keywords and placing them within my lenses should help get more traffic which in turn helps to get my lenses ranked a little higher. Selecting good keywords and keyword phrases helps with the overall SEO (search engine optimization) helping the Search Engines to find my lenses, index them, and then hopefully get them placed well when people are looking for something that I've written about.

Submitting my lenses to social bookmarking sites is another way to generate some extra traffic. So, I need to do a better job of getting my lenses submitted.

I have been remiss in tweeting about my lenses. So, that is another thing that I need to make part of my daily activity.

I'm already pretty active in the Squidoo Community but I could do a better job of visiting the SquidU forum.

Bottom line, if I want more traffic to generate more income, I need to do a better job of promotion.

Will I reach My Personal Goal

of making more money on Squidoo in 2012?

Well, I'm certainly going to try to increase the amount of money that I'm currently making here at Squidoo. I don't think trying to double my current income is an unreasonable goal. It is going to take some work on my part, but then that is why they say we "earn" our money.

So, the steps that I will be taking are:

1. Create more lenses.
2. Do a better job with keyword research and SEO on my lenses
3. Work diligently at submitting my lenses to the social bookmarking sites.
4. Use Twitter more effectively
5. Work on my Zazzle store
6. Use the affiliate modules of Amazon and eBay more.
7. Find other affiliate marketing companies to use on my lenses.

I'll keep a progress report going along the way.

Meet the Man Who Inspired Me

to set a Personal Goal for making money.

On December 4, 2009, I read an inspiring lens by Mark Nehs. He started a lens about setting a business goal of making $50 per day on Squidoo last year. At the end of the lens, he asked his readers to join a challenge and to set their own personal goal. Thank you Mark for the inspiration.

Progress Chart For Making More Money On Squidoo In 2012

Previously I had a really cool table showing my monthly earnings with a breakdown of where the money was earned. It was quite a time bandit to keep up and so I am changing the format of how I will report my earnings during 2012.

For new lensmasters on Squidoo, the payouts in January 2012 will actually be for the performance of the articles in October of 2011. However, for tax purposes the income is not received until 2012 so that is where I will start the chart of progress.

The December 2011 payout was the best I have ever received during my time here at Squidoo.

January 2012: Up 50% from the previous year and my best payout to date.

February 2012: Double the amount of the previous year and up 10% from the previous month's payout.

March 2012: 2 1/2 times the amount of the previous year. Down a few dollars from previous month but to be expected after the holiday shopping.

April 2012: Earned 75% more than the previous year.

May 20120: Earned 60% more than the previous year.

Since I'm new I don't have any business goals per say but my goal for this year is to get 75% of my lenses in the third tier or better by the end of 2012. Thanks for sharing your info.
