Symptoms of Eating Disorder
Not all people with eating disorders are visibly skinny or obese. Look for these symptoms.
- Attempt to cover body changes with loose clothing
- Obsession with calories, food, fat or carbohydrate content and/or with exercise.
- Hiding diet aids, enemas, or laxatives.
- Obsessed with being perfect.
- Feelings of low self esteem.
- Self-hating statements after eating.
- Fear of eating around others.
- Unusual rituals associated with eating including eating in food in certain order, cutting food into small pieces, shifting location of food on plate, hiding food.
- Physical symptoms include feeling cold, low blood pressure, hair loss, loss of menstrual cycles, grey pallor, dizziness, constipation, headaches.
