The Advantages Of Pet Cages

By far the biggest advantage of having a pet cage in your home is less work to clean up after your pet and keeping them in a controlled environment when you're not around.

Crating has always been a popular way to train dogs. Instinctively, dogs have a need to "den" and also need their own personal territory with a safe, secure comfort zone. Dogs prefer to keep their sleeping areas clean and dry.

A crate offers a positive solution to house-training and minimizes destructive behavior. This is your dog's bedroom.

Pet cages manufactured today have rounded corners and closer wire spacing for added safety and strength. This lens will inform you on choosing the right pet cage that will suit you and your pet.

Why Crates Are Favored By Thousands Of Dog Owners

Next to the training collar and leash, the dog crate is the proven training tool most recommended by professional dog trainers, groomers and veterinarians. Once accustomed to the dog crate, unfavorable behaviors such as house soiling, destructive chewing, digging, unnecessary barking, and howling can be avoided.

Crate training is also an ideal system to help ease separation anxiety. Since the dog's habits will be much easier to regulate by using the dog crate, discipline for misbehavior will be less necessary which will allow a stronger dog and owner relationship.

Crate-trained dogs travel easier in their "den" since they feel secure. This sense of security is also helpful if a dog needs to stay at the veterinarian or groomer since the dog is already accustomed to being crated.

And, compared to the cost of replacing furniture, plants, carpet, and other personal items that may be destroyed when a dog is allowed to roam a household unsupervised, the expense of a crate is very economical.

How To Shop For A Ferret Pet Cage

Measure the space you have chosen for your ferret. They need a minimum of 3 feet by 2 feet of space, more if you can manage it.

Bars or wire mesh are essential for your ferret cage, rather than ones with solid sides. Air and ventilation is an important factor when choosing your cage.

Ferrets are very clever and will find ways to get out of their cage. The welding on the cage bars should be sturdy and the lock mechanism secure.

The cages should have multiple levels or divided into different locations. Ferrets don't like to eat or sleep where they defecate, and a cage with different areas make it easier for them to accomplish that.

Ferret cages need to be cleaned often. You should consider a cage with a pull-out tray in the floor, which will allow you to clean the cage out easily.

Ferrets like crawl tubes or built-in nesting places. They are naturally curious and love to move around. Tunnels or similar add-ons can make your ferret a happy and content pet.

Puppy Crate Training Techniques

Using A Pet Cage Can Change Your Puppy's Habits

Puppy Crate Training

Keys To Make Puppy Crate Training More Effective

When it comes to teaching your new pet to have the desired behavior, there are many benefits that are offered through crate training your new puppy. This type of training will also create a place that is safe and secure for the puppy to sleep and rest, a place that is all his own. This will be the perfect place for him to go when you need to place your concentration else where. Other benefits are those of teaching your pet not to chew on such things as shoes, furniture or even your bedspread.

One of the most valuable benefits is that of housebreaking your pet. By using this method to housebreak your pet, they learn from a very early age not to do their business in the same area as their sleeping area. This will teach him to hold his urges to go until he is in the appropriate environment. This training is very effective.

Purchasing The Right Pet Cage Or Crate For Your Pet

Before you bring your new pet home, it is recommended that you purchase your pet cage first. This will allow your pet to get used to his surroundings and area from the very beginning making the training much easier. Before purchasing the crate for your pet, you want to make sure that it is the best one suited for the pet it is going to be housing. It needs to be able to house him properly, he needs room to sit, lie and stand as well as turn around in. however, you want to make sure that it isn't so big that he turns one corner into his own personal latrine.

One great type of pet cage is one that will grow as your puppy does. This type of crate has removable dividers that can be removed as needed to give your puppy the room that he needs to move around. You can place a blanket as a sleeping area for your pet and even include a chew toy. You want to place any food or water for the puppy on the outside of the crate in a separate area.

Once you bring your new pet home, do not place him immediately into the cage. Instead let him wander around and get used to his surroundings and let him venture into the area on his own. This is the most effective way for him to be trained.

When Should You Use Your Puppy crate Training

Within the first few hours of your new puppy being in your home, he should be well accustomed to his crate. Once this has been established, you can confine for overnight sleep or short periods of time when it is difficult to keep an eye on him. Unless confining for a good nights sleep, you should never keep your puppy confined within the pet cage for more than a few hours at a time.

During the daytime, make sure that you take your pet out regularly, as he may have to go to the bathroom more frequently. In many cases when a pet is confined to the space of a crate at very early ages that they are not sociable to others or other animals. For this reason, do not neglect to spend some quality time playing and cuddling with your puppy.

Using puppy crate training is very effective in housebreaking your pet. It can also be used for aggressive puppy training as it can teach them what they can and cannot chew on. Remember that your pets , just as humans require love and attention. Do not substitute the use of the pet cage for quality time with mans best friend.

Guinea Pig Pet Cages

Avoid Guinea Pig Pet Cages with wire floors or ramps, Guinea Pigs in general are not too fussy on what kind of cage they need. Low plastic shelves or ledges provide some extra interest for your guinea pig, but they do need extra floor space for running laps(a common pass-time).

One inch is the maximum spacing for a giunea pig pet cage. They are large enough that the cage wall can be 18 inches high which is enough to contain your guinea pig since they aren't avid climbers or excessive chewers.

Your Guinea Pig cage bedding can consist of Aspen shavings or even hay which are acceptable choices. Paper can be laid down underneath to help with absorbency. Also check out recycled guinea pig pet bedding on the market today, also an acceptable choice.

Guinea Pigs like to have a hiding place like a cardboard box upside down or piece of thick plastic pipe to act as a tunnel for them to scurry through.

Guinea Pigs consume lots of water and the recommended dispenser is a water bottle with a steel spout and ball. They tend to play with this device so keep an eye on their water supply.

Your Guinea Pig cage needs to be cleaned at least once a week without cleaners that may be harmful to them. Their size makes them more sensitive to household cleaners. Warm soapy water will do fine to wipe the cage bottom and surrounding areas.
