- Hello! They sound really beautiful and you just never know about rarity. I know there are betta clubs and shows in different cities, you could possibly enter your bettas in one. I've never gone there myself. I was looking in my betta reference book for a similar description or image of your fish and found there are bettas with a melano trait. The melano trait works into a black color at the ends of the fins though. In the same breath they mention a butterfly trait, which expresses double color on the fins with separation. Have you ever thought of breeding? I couldn't do it myself since the female usually dies in the end. However, I've had friends that were successful and managed to sell there specimens. I know our local pet shops buy from breeders. I've had quite a bit of success with my cichlid fry when they decide to procreate. Good luck with your bettas! Thanks for stopping by.
