Who is Pete Wentz
Ranked #30,004 in Culture & Society, #594,933 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund
Pete was born June 5, 1979. He was a star soccer player in school and attended DePaul University, where he studied political science, but dropped out one semester before graduation in order to focus more on his music.
He started in a hardcore band called Arma Angelus, but he and friend Joe Trohman soon started talking about forming a band of their own. One day Joe met a teenager named Patrick Stump in a local Borders and convinced him to meet Pete. Soon after, Pete and Joe realized they'd found their lead singer. Andy Hurley joined on drums later.
In addition to his growing success with Fall Out Boy, Pete is also an entrepreneur, with his own record label, clothing line, nightclub, and more. Recently, he's become frequent tabloid fodder, thanks to his relationship with Ashlee Simpson. The two were married May 17, 2008, and their son, Bronx Mowgli Wentz, was born November 20, 2008.

Other Charity Work

Pete is also a well-known supporter of gay rights, describing homophobia as "the last bastion of acceptable hatred." He describes himself as "gay above the waist" but says he "doesn't like penises," and has added (in a pre-Ashlee interview), "I'm a make-out king-I'll kiss anybody-but as far as going further than that, I wanna keep my number down. I don't wanna tell my future wife, 'Yeah, I've been with, like, 50 people.'"
Rumors have linked him romantically to both sexes, but his public relationships have been mainly with women.
Fall Out Boy was also one of the performers in the American stage Live Earth concert, a worldwide concert that raised awareness of climate change.
